The Letter — Including Important Documents

Hello friends.  It’s Ursula sharing today about how to incorporate important documents into your pages.
There are lots of ways to go about this but I’ll share a little about how I did it in the project below.
I recently recieved this letter from my daughter that deeply touched my heart.  My daughter has been going through some difficult things for a while now and there has been tension in the family.  This letter seemed like a real turning point for all of us and I was so grateful that I wanted to solidify the memory in a page for our family albums.
As it turns out, Madison writes very, very small, and in a font that can be hard for the untrained eye to decipher.  So, instead of using the original, I opted to type the page into Microsoft Word and size it to fit with the photo I had planned to use.
This offers a few benefits: it is easy to read, it’s the size I want, and it’s on the paper I want to use.
Another approach can be to scan and resize items in photoshop or a similar program.  After you get it sized appropriately, simply print it out and add it to your page. (I tore mine also, to get a a bit of interesting shape.)
I’ve used the Scrapbook Circle February kits, Story Time and Page Turner to complete my project.
Since this project brought so much joy, focusing on the rainbow stripes seemed the perfect fit.  I kept the design relatively simple so that the letter itself would stand out more.

Don’t forget to add your designs using this months kits to our Facebook page!

Inspired by Triangles

Was anyone besides me doubly inspired by the triangles challenge this month?  I couldn’t stop with only one project and simply had to continue playing with the amazingly versatile shape in the layout below.  I created my own ‘background paper’ by choosing some of my favorite pieces and sewing them together to create my base. (and would anyone mind me saying that this months kits ROCKED?!  Thanks for allowing me to let it out!)

You’ll notice that I cut the Dear Lizzy paper at the top to create a triangle border that points the viewer down into the layout.  In addition, I cut a variety of yellow and cream colored papers from this months amazing Newsflash, Bulletin and Happening Now kits into triangles and used them to create a base for my page.

I used my sewing machine to stitch down each of the triangles and then left some thread tales to become a tangle underneath the photo.  (kinda mimics the conversations of us girls that go in all directions don’t you think?)

I couldn’t have had much more fun than this!  So, have you taken the Triangle challenge yet?

Hexagon sticker mask

Hi, Daniela here, sharing a layout I created using  our September kit – Talk of the Town.

I fell in love with the Studio Calico Hexagon Stickers and I saw that as a wonderful mask to use for this layout.

I started by removing all the stickers. I added baby powder to the back of all the stickers and the sticker base to remove the sticky back. I placed them all in a small container on my desk for future use.

This is what it looks like once all the stickers are removed.

With the sticky back removed you can place the mask anywhere on your page and start misting. When you are done, blot the mask with a paper towel and let it dry. I placed mine in a notebook to keep flat.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you will give this technique a try. If you do, please share your project on our Facebook page.

It is now up in our October Add-ons section and is ready to ship with your October Kit. (Of course, you can order it separately too!)

Enjoy!
