Perfect Day at the Zoo

Hey there Scrapbook Circle friends!  I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

Today, I have my DT choice layout to share with you.  I am finally getting around to scrapbooking a trip to our favorite zoo a few years ago.  It feels so good to have the layout done and ready to put in our album.

I am using the July Smile More kit and the July Laugh More add-on.  To start, I die cut my photos and some of the Bella Blvd paper into diamonds.  (I cut out a big square in the middle of the pattern paper so I can use the outside as a frame for my layout.)  I arranged the diamonds on a piece of white cardstock that I trimmed a little.  I left some spots blank, and I hand stitched some diamonds as well to create visual interest and texture.  The layout is relatively easy to put together…it’s just the perfectionist in me that wanted all the diamonds to line up straight and evenly that took the most time.

I attached the cardstock to the Bella Blvd paper, and added machine stitching.  I typed up my journaling on the computer, then added them to the right side of the layout in strips.  I added the title using the thickers from this month’s add-on, and the blue Webster’s pages stickers from the May Here We Go add-on, and that cute “Perfect Day” bear sticker from Shimelle that was in the March Happy Place kit.  I’ve been saving that sticker for the perfect layout, and if it’s not perfect for a zoo layout, I don’t know what is!  To finish off my layout, I added a few embellishments and the rubber camera charm from Pinkfresh Studio.

Thanks for stopping by today to check out my layout!  I hope you like my graphic minimalist style and layout!

Happy crafting!

“How Far I’ll Go,” a DT choice layout

Hello friends!

I’m here today with a layout using June’s Sunshine Days kit.

My daughter and her friend decided to sing “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana in their school’s talent show.  The sweet girls learned the lyrics, practiced singing together, and decided on their coordinating hair and outfits.  They did a fabulous job, and I am so proud!  Lets just say I know all the words to this song now as well, lol!  (It’s the 2017 “Let It Go,” ha!)

I wanted a bold title that matched my layout, so I DIYed my own.  I created the title and then used my Silhouette Cameo to cut it out of white cardstock.  I cut it out twice, so I could glue them on top of each other to give it some thickness, like I mentioned in this post.  Using an ink blending tool, and 2 different pink distress inks, I added color to the title, creating an ombre effect.  I set aside my title to dry, and got to work on my layout.

The Crate Paper Oasis collection is perfect for a Moana themed layout!  I added a piece of the pink pattern paper to the top of white cardstock, and added some machine stitching.  I adhered 3 photos to the blue Amy Tangerine paper (from a previous kit).  I layered a few tags from the Crate Paper ephemera pack behind the layered photos.  Next, I added my title and the journaling that I typed on the computer.  I used some more ephemera to embellish the top left of my layout.  I added more machine stitching and I also used my tiny stapler.  I used my punches to punch some hearts and stars to add a few more touches.  I added some gold spray ink, and my layout is finished!

I love how this layout turned out…I hope I inspired you to get crafty as well!

planning for April

Hello Scrapbook Circle friends!

I hope your March has been good to you, and you are enjoying the start of Spring.  I’m sure like me, your month has flown by!  I’m already planning ahead for April.  April is a busy month for us, as both my oldest daughter’s and my husband’s birthdays are in April.  Planning my month out is crucial to keeping me on schedule, and it doesn’t hurt to make it pretty!  I like to have a good month at a glance spread, and then I will get more detailed (and messy) in my weekly spreads.

I tackled my April spread with the March Happy Place kit and the March Good Stuff add-on.  The Paige Evans Pink Paislee stamp set in this kit is perfect for planners!

I love including photos in my planner.  I put a photo of my older daughter on her birthday, and a recent photo of my husband and I on his birthday.  I also included a recent favorite photo of my girls on one of the empty days.  Next, I used my Paige Evans Pink Paislee stamp set.  I used the lines, and the bullet points on the days that I needed it with blue ink.  I also stamped a few of the other images, like the florals in the corner, and the Weekend with black ink.  Then, I cut out squares from a few of the Amy Tangerine multi-square 6×6 pages, and they fit perfectly in my calendar squares!  I especially love the Taco truck, which I put in a Tuesday square, and the succulents.  After filling my planner with important dates and to-dos, I embellished with stickers.  I also made a page marker using Amy Tangerine papers, and my planner punch tool.  Finally, I made a bow using metal dies, my die cutting machine, and Amy Tangerine papers.  I adhered the bow to a paper clip, and clipped it to my planner.

I hope my post today has inspired you to get creative with your planners.  Happy crafting!

bath time layout, DT Choice

Hello, and welcome back to the Scrapbook Circle blog!

Today, I have a layout for you using the March Happy Place kit, and the March Good Stuff add-on.  I hope you all are enjoying your March!  My birthday is in March, and for an early birthday present, I got a Silhouette Cameo 3!  I have been wanting one for years, so I am super excited!  I still have a lot to learn, but don’t be surprised if I use a lot of cut files this month!  LOL!  Today, I am using a cut file from Just Nick Studio.

My Ruby is 4 months already, but here is a layout documenting her first tub bath at 10 days old.  She was so tiny!

First, I cut the Heart is Full background cut file from Just Nick Studio out of white cardstock.  I chose some blue and aqua colored pattern paper from this month’s kit and add on, and backed most of the hearts on the cut file.  I then adhered the heart circle to a piece of white cardstock, and hand stitched around the circle.  (I have to admit that those 2 steps took a bit of time, but I worked on it in the living room while my husband and girls watched a movie.)  Next, I adhered the white cardstock to a background paper, and machine stitched around the edges.  I adhered my photos to aqua cardstock, then glued them to my layout.  I created a title on my Cameo, and cut it using some pattern paper.  I added some journaling and the date.  To finish my layout, I embellished with hearts that I cut out from a Pink Paislee paper, scripty flowers (which were from a Dear Lizzy paper from last month’s add-on), and small circle puffy stickers.

Magical Moments layout

Hello friends!

Today, I am sharing a layout made with February’s So This Happened kit and add-on Record It.

I made this layout for the Take 2 challenge.  I was inspired by Neela’s “Oh So Cold” layout, found on the blog post here, and I wanted to recreate it.

pompoms-with-footer

I was inspired by the big photo, the big square photo mat in the middle, the banners, and the embellishments on the banner.

Here is what I came up with:

I am just now getting around to scrapbooking some photos from my maternity photoshoot.  This photo is my favorite, so I wanted to highlight it.

Here’s how I created my layout:

I wanted to add a little bit of mixed media to my layout.  First, I prepped my white cardstock.  I added some hearts with texture paste and a stencil, and I added some gold ink splatters.  Next, I printed out my photo in 5×7.  I adhered it to the 1 canoe 2 Hazelwood Forest Berry paper that I cut into a square, and adhered that to the middle of my white cardstock.  Next, I hand cut all the banners and sketched flowers from the Dear Lizzy 6×6 paper pad.  I arranged the banners onto my layout, and added machine stitching for texture and interest.  Next I added the flowers to the sides of the banner, framing my photo.  To finish my layout I added the Magical Moments Maggie Holmes phrase sticker as my title.  I also added a few gold hearts from the Crate Paper stickers found in the January True Love add-on.

That’s it!  I hope you were inspired by both Neela’s and my layout.  Have a lovely day!

Made with Love scrapbook layout

Hello friends!

Today, I’m sharing a scrapbook layout I created with the February So This Happened Kit and the add-on Record It.

I made a layout about the baby quilt I made for my baby girl.  I have made special quilts for all three of my girls, and it is one of my favorite traditions.

When I thought about putting this layout together, I knew I wanted to make the background mimic the quilt I made.  I first thought about using different pattern papers that matched my quilt, but with all the different patterns and colors, it looked a little busy.  I also really loved the Fancy Pants Joy Parade paper.  The pink matches the color in the quilt, and one of the fabric patterns has + on it just like the pattern paper.  Win win.  I cut up the Fancy Pants paper, and adhered it to a navy blue striped pattern paper (from an older kit).  Then I machine stitched in diagonals across the squares, just like I did for my quilt.  I mounted my photos on a piece of aqua paper from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day 6×6 paper pad, and adhered it to the layout.  I added the title using one of my all time favorite alphas: Pinkfresh Studio letters (included in the November add-on), and the love from the American Crafts Darling Hazelwood thickers.  Then I added the enamel triangles and phrase stickers to finish off my layout.

I hope you like my layout, and are inspired to create.  Thanks for stopping by!

Trio of Valentine’s cards

Hello crafty friends!

Today, I am sharing with you what I created with the February add-on Record It.  One of my favorite products to get is 6×6 paper pads.  I think they are so versatile and such a great value!

Using the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day 6×6 paper pad and the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams gold puffy hearts, I created 3 mini Valentine cards for my family.  Valentine’s day is one of my favorite holidays…specifically for the Valentine scrapbooking products!  I love hearts, pink, red, and love sentiments!

For my first card, I cut out some black and white strips of pattern paper, and glued them to a piece of white card stock that I die cut into a square.  I added machine stitching to a few of the strips, and then adhered it to a red card base.  Then I added the I heart you sentiment and the gold puffy heart.

For my second card, I die cut 2 different sized squares from pattern paper.  I added a Love you sentiment to the red square.  I also added some flowers that I fussy cut from a pattern paper from the Dear Lizzy 6×6 paper, and a gold puffy heart to the red square.  I adhered the black striped paper to a white card base, and then added the red embellished square on top with foam adhesive.

For my last card, I die cut 2 different sized squares from pattern paper.  On the ombre paper, I added some gold ink splatter.  I adhered the ombre paper to a red card base, them added the text pattern paper on top with foam adhesive.  I added the Elle’s Studio Love You sticker and a gold puffy heart on top.

DT choice: our life in NUMBERS

Hey crafty friends!

Today, I’m here with a DT choice layout to share with you.  My husband and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary this past summer, and I thought it would be fun to document our life in numbers.  Examples of my journaling include: 12 years of marriage, 20 years together, 2 beautiful girls & one on the way, 2 dogs + lots of fishes…

The January Love Notes kit was perfect for my anniversary page!  I love all the pink and the love themed sentiments.

With a baby in the house, I’m all about simple scrapbooking lately.  This layout didn’t take too long, but I love how it turned out, and I love how the photos are the highlight of the layout.

To make my layout:

  1. I cut out a frame from a piece of white cardstock.
  2. Then I framed the Crate Paper pattern paper, and added some machine stitching.
  3. I added 2 photos that I printed to look like polaroid/instax photos.
  4. I placed my title.  I printed part of my title on an Elle’s Studio label and used alphas from the November Hot Cocoa add-on (I love those Pinkfresh Studio alphas!)
  5. I added journaling strips that I typed up on the computer.
  6. Then I embellished.  I used the pink XO project life heart, which I cute down to fit in my space.  I also used simple stories word stickers and a label sticker for my date.  The 2 flags on top are cut out from a piece of pattern paper from the Crate Paper 6×6 paper pad from the January True Love add-on.

I hope you like what I created and are inspired to get crafty!

Have a lovely day!

True Love Add-on with Jennifer

Hey! It’s Jennifer today sharing a layout created with the January Love Notes Kit and True Love Add-on.

Let me start by saying that from the very beginning this was one of those projects that just would not come together. First, I could not quite decide what I wanted to do. Next, my paper ripped – like big time ripped. Finally, after everything was said and done, I realized that I already used this photo for another project! Ugh!

JenMc-1-19-4

To begin, I used the exclusive Scrapbook Circle January cut file on a 12×12 piece of white cardstock. Using the Fancy Pants Designs flair and patterned paper as inspiration, I painted turquoise, orange, and pink onto the cardstock. Right about that time, dinner was ready so I stepped away for a while and forgot about the painted cardstock. When I attempted to peel it off of the surface I painted it on, it totally ripped. Since it was torn pretty badly, I decided to cut it into a smaller strip and use it to back the photo.

JenMc-1-19-2

The painted card stock was adhered to the patterned paper with Tombow Mono glue and the photo was backed with Crate Paper patterned papers. Next, I used several of the cork pieces and flair from Fancy Pants Designs, as well as a Crate Paper brad, and placed them on the painted paper and my photo. I followed that with the “Smile” puffy sticker (also Fancy Pants) from a previous kit as my title. Next, I stamped the Elle’s Studio tags with the Reset Girl roller stamp (also in a previous kit) and cascaded them under the photo. Last, I adhered everything to the Fancy Pants corrugated paper to add a pop of color and a few splatters of black mist.

JenMc-1-19-3

The finished layout is very colorful and uses most of the flair included in the True Love Add-on.

Designer’s Choice with Jennifer

Hello Scrapbook Circle friends! It’s Jennifer today with my Designer’s Choice project for January.

1-15-Jen-Mc-1

This month’s kit is overflowing with stickers and embellishments,  which prompted me to create this project that uses several of them in a small grid pattern.

1-15-Jen-Mc-6

I began by cutting 2×2-inch squares of patterned paper and adhering them to the top half of the background paper. When I laid the photo on the grid, it seemed a little to large so I added border strips along the top and bottom of the grid. The fringe-patterned paper is one of my favorites this month! I ended up cutting it into strips and then creating actual fringes along the print lines of the paper. Once I had it in place, I machine-stitch the top to give it a softer feel.

With my embellishments in place and the fringe sewn down, I adhered my photo to the layout using foam squares to raise it to the same height as the embellishment grid. I also added a few drops of paint on the background.

1-15-Jen-Mc-5

The title on the layout was created using my Silhouette Cameo and a font on my computer. I cut several “love” sentiments along with “this girl” and cascaded them down the photo.

1-15-Jen-Mc-2

The finished layout is quite busy but works. I love that I was able to use the Valentine-themed papers and embellishments on a non-holiday photo!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you are inspired to create!
