Paper Effects

When I first got this month’s kit I knew immediately that I wanted to use the hot air balloon transparency on a card and I wanted them to look like they were floating in the sky over a meadow of green grass.  The Sassafras Sunshine Brodcast Enlighten paper in the kit would be perfect for the clouds but I had other plans for that gorgeous paper.

I was on a mission to get my clouds one way or another so I pulled out my mists and inked the “flourish” paper.  I went darker in some areas and lighter in others since the sky is varying shades of blue.  Then I tore the paper into strips to reveal the white core, making the clouds.  The rest of the card fell into place, using the canvas tags, alphas, digital download, and of course the transparency.

Weekend Warm-up 9.10

Happy Friday!  Let’s warm-up this weekend by getting grungy!  I am a happy mama to three boys – three very much, 100%, no doubt about it boys.  As I oohed and ahhed over the pretty florals in the September kit, I wondered if I would be able to scrap any of my little men using those delicious designs.  I looked over to see the black Chalkboard Mist I ordered as an add-on and said to myself, “I know how to man-up this pretty paper – grunge!”

To grunge up the floral Sassafras paper, I sprayed some mist.  Then I unscrewed the lid and let a few fat splatters fall onto my layout.  Then I flicked the sprayer with my finger for some dots of color.  I penciled in where my photo was going, then using a small paintbrush, I dipped into my bottle of mist and painted out a frame.  Three effects with one product – you’ve gotta love that!

So whether you have boys you’d like to scrap, or you’re looking for an artsy way to approach a page, try grunging it up a bit this weekend with some mist.  Have fun!

Card Fun w/the Sept. Kit

I was running short on thank you cards and so yesterday I decided to use up the scraps from my September kit and put a few cards together.

I found that my favorite thing to use was the Sassafras Die Cut Sheet from the Embellishment add-on. It really helped the cards come together so quickly!

Here are a few of my favorites…

More ideas are up in the GALLERY!
