Paper Effects

When I first got this month’s kit I knew immediately that I wanted to use the hot air balloon transparency on a card and I wanted them to look like they were floating in the sky over a meadow of green grass.  The Sassafras Sunshine Brodcast Enlighten paper in the kit would be perfect for the clouds but I had other plans for that gorgeous paper.

I was on a mission to get my clouds one way or another so I pulled out my mists and inked the “flourish” paper.  I went darker in some areas and lighter in others since the sky is varying shades of blue.  Then I tore the paper into strips to reveal the white core, making the clouds.  The rest of the card fell into place, using the canvas tags, alphas, digital download, and of course the transparency.

Sassafras Sunshine Paper

In our You are my Sunshine kit for August we have 4 sheets of pattern paper from the sassafras Sunshine broadcast line.  It’s awesome!  When I first looked at it I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to do with it, but as I looked through my pictures an idea formed:

I loved how the background paper already had clouds on it, and really they resemble the clouds on this day we went fishing for the first time.  The added cloud sticker adds just the right amount of dimension without overwhelming the page.

This picture is one of my all time favorites because they didn’t even know I was taking the picture, they were so focused on what they were doing.  I love seeing the interaction between father and daughter.  This particular picture was taken at least 2 years ago and has been sitting on my desk waiting to be scrapped.  Do you have any pictures like that, which haven’t been scrapped yet?  I would love to see your layout on our Facebook page.  Please feel free to share!

Who needs paper?

I’m a simple scrapper at heart. Sure, I sometimes deviate from my usual style of scrapping but in the end, I always come back to the simple style. That’s why I love this card so much. White cardstock (Bazzill in Lily White is my favourite!), a few stickers and rub-ons can give you a stunning card. No need for pattern paper! Give it a shot, I’m sure you’ll love it!

July Peek!

I’ve been playing with the upcoming July kit this week and I’ve been having so much fun!

The paper is all double-sided, so there are so many creative options.

Here’s a look at what I’ve been up to:

I put this together as a guest book where a photo of the visitors can go on one side of the page and details of the visit go on the other page.

The paper, brown glitter alphas and Fancy Pants transparencies pieces are all from the July kit!

(The mini alpha on the cover is from the June Project Kit and the house chipboard shapes are from Jenni Bowlin.)

Hope you are looking forward to your kit!
