Journaling & Photos — Documenting Gratitude

November 15, 2017

I’ve done a gratitude album or thirty days of thankful album for November for the past few years and love it every time. Of course there are obvious things to document–your family, your friends etc. But it can be more telling to think about some of the smaller things you are thankful for. Like a hot cup of coffee in the morning or going to the gym. Whether you are documenting the big things or small, your journaling and photos can help tell the story.

I was outside with my dogs the other night and the sky was beautiful as was the weather. And where we live, we get excited when the weather is lower than 80 at night lol! So I was sure to include that in my notebook, but I didn’t really need to journal more than the tag where I could fill in the “I am thankful for” line.

On the other hand, when I created a page about my daughter, I wanted to say more so I journaled some of her awesome qualities right on the page.

Even though the photo wasn’t taken on November 4th, it was a photo of the two of us together and the journaling wasn’t about something that happened on the 4th, but it says a lot about why I am so proud of her. Your days, photos and journaling can be fluid, especially if you forget to take a photo on one day and take more than one on another!

For this spread I decided to include two photos to showcase how thankful I am that we have our pups. These smaller, contact size photos work great in traveler’s notebooks if you decide to include more than one photo for each day!

How has your attitude of gratitude documenting been going? I admit, I have forgotten to take a photo here and there, but I always make up for it by taking several the next day! The idea is NOT to stress and to enjoy the process!

Thanks for stopping by!

🙂 Rebecca
