Hi there Friends! Today we are looking at the second project from our July Guest Designer, the ever inventive artist Taheerah Atchia!  Before we get to her project, let’s learn a little bit more about Taheerah. As part of usual Guest Designer Post, I asked her to answer a few of the questions I am always curious about other designers.

1. When do you do your cardmaking…do you set specific time aside or wait until you are feeling creative??

“My creative time is largely dictated by DT deadlines nowadays – though I’m trying to set aside more time to create just for me too! At the moment my weekends are set aside to create, with the occasional card being made during a weekday evening. When I’m creating for me it tends to be a bit less structured than that and I’ll go with the flow!”

2. Do you keep a Planner or Memory Keeper? Or both??

“I have something like 3 planners and two Traveler’s Notebooks. I’ve used a grand total of zero of them… LOL! I do actually need to plan my work and creative commitments more though so I really should put one of those planners to good use!”

3. Name 3 things you couldn’t craft without!!

“Oh goodness me, just three?! Does mojo count as one of them? That’s the most important one. *wink*

If we’re talking supplies, then I can’t do without a good, thick quality white cardstock, stamps, and ink. Everything else is icing on the cake – and I really like cake, so I have a lot of icing in my stash, ha!”

Here is Taheerah’s card using the July main kit, “Smile More.” She also gives us some insight to her creative process below.

“I’m so excited to be back here today to show off the July Kit again! I’ve had so much fun creating beautiful cards with it!  Today, I decided to play with a few of the different patterned papers, as well as some of the awesome embellishments!

I cut several of the papers and layered them onto my card base, with the largest covering the entire base. I enjoy cutting the papers unevenly and arranging them in a more uneven fashion – it adds way more interest than straight forward matting!”

“The July Kit comes with a great assortment of elements! I pulled out the cork hexagons – these each feature a different pattern printed on them, so fun! I adhered the patterned hexagons in a formation, and cut one of the other designs in half and adhered them upside down to use as plain halves. I think we sometimes forget that we can customise ready-made embellishments but it really opens up the possibilities for them if you do!”

“I really love the large scale chipboard word embellishments and used one to add a bold sentiment to my card. It adds additional dimension and texture to the design. And of course I couldn’t put down those giant gold sequins – a healthy scattering of them finished off my design perfectly!

I actually have a bonus card up on my own blog showcasing some other ways to customize embellishments in the kit for you to get a double dose of inspiration! Please do hop over and check it out here!

I’ve had a ball guest designing for Scrapbook Circle this month! I hope you’ve enjoyed my visit and I’d love it if you continued to follow my crafty adventures on my blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or Pinterest! Thanks for stopping by!”

Taheerah has such a wonderful ability to our together the unexpected pieces and combine them in a unique way!

Thank you so much Taheerah for sharing your time and creative formula with us! And thank you for sharing some of your day today with us. Have an awesome weekend!
