June Guest Designer – Patricia Roebuck

Happy June & happy Friyay!!  I am so grateful and excited to announce our Guest Designer for June, the amazing, inspiring Patricia Roebuck!!  I have always admired her honest, fresh ability to tell a story thru her pages and couldn’t wait to see what she created using the ‘Sunshine Days’ kit!  And she’s a Southern gal, like me!  Patricia shares a bit about herself and then her cool approach to her Project Life.

“Hello! I’m Patricia Roebuck, and so excited to be guesting for Scrapbook Circle. I live in Louisiana with my husband, daughter, and two cats. For the past four years, I have been very fortunate to be a part of several design teams. Some of my first teams were American Crafts, Lily Bee, and Carta Bella. Some of my more recent teams were October Afternoon, Altenew, and Waffle Flower Crafts. I’ve recently been employed to work from home as a concept designer for a direct sales stamping and papercrafting company, called Fun Stampers Journey. I love creating, and I love this industry, so I am very excited about being more involved in growing as a designer, teaching and inspiring others. My creative journey started because of our adoption and wanting to create a Life Book for our daughter. Besides my love of scrapbooking, I love cardmaking, planners, pocket pages, travelers notebooks, and photography, etc. I have also been fortunate to be published in Scrapbook Trends, Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooks, Etc., Scrapwerk, and Scrapbook & Cards Today.”

I have recently fallen in love with scrapbooking on a smaller scale.  There’s so many ways to document in a smaller format and they make memory keeping easier for me to store.  So today I’m sharing a layout that is 6×8.  I included two photos on this layout to tell a little bit of the story, while still making the photo of my daughter the main focus.  I keep my photos small, these are about 3×4 and about 1.75×1.75.”

“As soon as I opened and looked through the June kits, I really wanted to do something fun for a title using so many of the exclusives, stickers and stamps.  So that is where I started.  Once everything was placed, and stamped, I adhered and added stitching.  Then I placed my photos and added some layering of pattern paper, filled in with embellishments, and typed my journey to trim and stitch in place.”

“This layout can stand on its on, but because I love to document, I decided to extend this into a pocket page.  So using the main layout as inspiration, I created my 3×4 pockets using lots of die cuts, pattern paper, stitching, and embellishments.  I went a little heavy with both the pocket page and the layout with layering and embellishments, but besides documenting, part of the fun is creating and playing.  Thank you so much Scrapbook Circle and community for having me!  I will be back next week to share more from the June kits!”

One of the things I like so much about Patricia’s style is her the fact that she shares so much of herself and her family within her projects.  It just reinforces my love for the basis of this hobby, which is to tell a story and record the memories.  Her balance of color and scale is always spot on!  Make sure you come back for more with her…Patricia will be back with more about her creative process and more projects later this month.
