Tech Tip with Rebecca – Coloring Washi

Hey everyone! Did you happen to grab the Here We Go add on this month? It has the most amazing Dear Lizzy Coloring Washi Tape. I definitely included it in my planner spread for the month of may:

So for this Tech Tip I wanted to go through a few mediums that are fun to use on this cool washi tape.  Here are few different mediums I tried on the washi tape.

The Tonic Studios Nuvo Brush Script pens are new to me and I only have a few colors, but they were my favorite to use. They have a brush tip, but the end of the tip is very fine and perfect for coloring in these small spaces. Even though I didn’t have a green, I was able to mix the blue and yellow on the washi to color in the leaves. These are the pens I used to color the washi in my planner spread.

I also tried Copics, which are great  for coloring on the slick surface of the washi without smearing once dry. But don’t think you can “blend” on the washi tape. Since the tape has that slick surface it doesn’t absorb the ink and so traditional blending does not take place.

I also tried Prisma Color pencils and Staedtler Fineline Markers. The pencils were great for a textured look and the Staedtlers were great for staying in the lines because they have such an ultra fine tip.

But ultimately, like I mentioned, my favorite were the Nuvo Brush Script Pens. Looks like I need to add to my collection lol!

What have you been using to color in the washi tape? Please share over in the Scrapbook Circle of Friends! We would love to see!

🙂 Rebecca
