May Challenge: Color Me Pretty

Inspired by the “Color Me Pretty” patterned paper in the May kit, Take Note, our next challenge is to create a layout featuring colored-in images. While this paper is perfect for the challenge, as well as the matching washi tape found in the Here We Go add-on, any image you can color in will do. You can use colored pencils, watercolors, art markers, paint…whatever medium your heart desires. The lovely Jennifer has created a gorgeous page to get the ideas flowing:

Jennifer used watercolors to paint some of the flowers on the patterned paper. She used the paper as the background on the left side of her layout…

…then fussy-cut several flowers to use as embellishments clustered around her photo:

I love how the watercolor naturally curled the cut-outs a bit, giving them texture and a bit of lift off of the page.

Ready to play along with the challenge? Here’s how:

1. Create a layout featuring colored-in elements. Traditional or hybrid. This month’s Scrapbook Circle kit is perfect for this challenge, but any materials will do.

2. Post your project to your blog, an online gallery, or social media site (be sure to tag Scrapbook Circle!). Comment on this post with a direct link to your layout.

3. For an extra entry, post your layout to our Facebook Community, Scrapbook Circle of Friends. Add your project to the photo album “May Challenge – Color Me Pretty”.

4. Link us to your entry by Sunday, June 11th, 9:00 pm PST. The randomly-selected winner of a $20.00 gift certificate to Scrapbook Circle will be posted on Monday, June 12th.

Good luck and happy scrapping!
