Designer’s Choice – Whitespace

Hi everyone, this is Neela here. It is not often that I use white space on my layouts. I end up filling every bit of it. If there is any whitespace in the design, I don’t fill satisfied until I fill it up with some sort embellishments. But for this layout I decided to hold back and leave the white space. My photo is in bottom right of the page and the rest of the layout is pretty much empty.  I added few little embellishments in the top left corner of the layout. Here is the layout:

I love the statement these papers with bold patterns and colors from the kit this month make. They do completely remind me of Hawaii. The photo that I used for this layout is from our vacation in Maui last summer. It is a photo of my son and me and was taken at a Luau. I used an Amy Tan On a Whim cardstock as a border for the background. I love the bright pattern peeking through. I also did some layering with a bunch of bright and colorful patterned card stock behind the photo. I added a layer of vellum so that it softens the look a little bit. I then added some puffy stickers from Paige Evans Oh my heart collection which is available in one of the March Add Ons.

I also did a little bit of stamping above the photo with the stamp in the Main kit and wrote  my journaling.

But majority of the layout is whitespace and somehow that is quite appealing and goes well with the bold colors. What do you think?
