Yay!  It’s Friday!!

Even though some superstitious folks think Friday the 13th could be unlucky, we are feeling super lucky to have Allison Waken as our Guest Designer for January!  Her work has always been a personal inspiration and her simple style consistently stands out.  Allison tells us a little about herself and then walks us through her layered layout using the January “Love Notes” kit.

Hi there! My name is Allison Waken and I’m a wife, boy mom, dog mom and blogger out of Phoenix, AZ.
I love photography, traveling and creating memories with my family. I have a background in marketing but have been blogging full time for the last 4 years. Writing, photography and creativity can combine into the perfect job that I love. I’m all about trying different forms of memory keeping and am currently loving making traveler’s notebook spreads. I always come back to traditional pages here and there though. There’s just something about that 12×12 page! I am a huge fan of creating with kits because it makes pulling out supplies and getting a page done so simple!

This page is celebrating my sixteenth anniversary this month. We took this photo a couple months ago but I figured if I was sitting down to make a page I’d get this done now!

I loved the paper in this month’s kit SO much. I layered it in the corner and added in some of the fun paper pieces and embellishments.

Layering is my favorite way of adding a lot to a page while still maintaining somewhat of a minimalist look.

I finished off the page with a little paper piece in the corner with the date and a small sentence of journaling.

I love Allison’s page…a perfect example of her signature style!  Check out her Blog for more and come back in a couple weeks for more from our talented Guest!  Thanks for stopping by today and thank you to Allison for sharing a piece of your personal life with us through paper and embellishments!
