November Guest Designer – Ashley Horton
Hi there everyone! Happy Friday to all of you lovely crafty friends!
I have the privilege of introducing our November Guest Designer, Ashley Horton! Ashley is one of the most proficient designers I know, from the many creative teams she contributes to as well as her own shop, feasting her digital designs, she is an amazing artist.
I asked Ashley to describe herself and her first project using the November “Wonderland” kit; here is what she said.
My name is Ashley Horton, and I live in the Southern US with my husband Tyler and our 3 children, Madison, Emma and Reese. I have been a traditional scrapbooker for over 10 years now, and it’s an everyday part of my life. I love creating layouts that focus on photos of our family, and the kids provide plenty of photo opportunities! Currently, I am designing for Pink Paislee, Crate Paper and A Flair for Buttons. I also own an Etsy shop, The Cut Shoppe, where I sell Digital Cut Files and Printables. Some of my favorite products to work with are my Silhouette Cameo, patterned paper, wood veneers, enamel dots and Color Shine. Some of my other favorite hobbies include cooking and reading (currently re-reading the Twilight series for about the 20th time…it’s an addiction!!). You can find more of my work and my social media links by visiting my Blog, Ashley Horton Designs.
Once the background look was created, I enlarged another tree to almost the full size of my 12×12 background. Then I used the offset tool in Silhouette Studio to create an outline of the tree. I cut it from the Crate Paper Gather patterned paper and placed it over the background. I loved the look of the larger, open Christmas tree layered over the smaller trees in the background. This also gave me the perfect spot to add my photo and title. I used a few Elle’s Studio and Crate Paper embellishments from the kit, around my photo area. I always like to cluster elements around my photo, when I create a background design like this, to keep from covering all of the background work.
I hope you’ve found some inspiration for working with the Wonderland Kit! It’s never too early to get in the Christmas spirit!!
I love the large scale tree outline Ashley cut, the warm colors she chose to use and her attention to detail that all helps her compose this fun, dynamic layout.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Make sure you come back in a couple weeks for more about Ashley and her inspiring work.
