Happy Thanksgiving friends!!  I am feeling especially blessed this year, and thankful for all the talented people I have gotten to know, (albeit online) including our Guest Designer this month, Ashley Horton!

I asked her a few questions to help you get a pick into her daily creative life.  Here are Ashley’s responses:

  1. How do you make time for scrapbooking with a busy schedule…do you wait until you get the creative bug, or set aside specific scrap time??
“Since our family home schools, I can usually work on things at different times throughout the day.  While the kids are working independently, I like to work on cut file designs or update my social media, galleries and Blog.  After the kids are done with their work in the afternoon, I work on my layouts.  Sometimes I have time to finish the full layout at one time, but if not I leave it and try to finish it up before going to bed.”
  2. What do you do when you lose your mojo?  Do you have a favorite YouTube channel or Pinner that inspired you?
“I like to look at things on Pinterest that are not related to scrapbooking, like color schemes, geometric shapes and patterns.”
  3. In 3 words, describe your personal scrapbook style!
    “Layered, Colorful and Happy”
As you can see, her style is totally colorful, layered and so happy…Ashley’s layouts always make me smile!

I’ve always loved creating fun titles for my layouts…and usually the bigger the better!  I thought it would be fun to use one of the title cut files from The Cut Shoppe in the background of my second layout, using the Wonderland Kit.  I cut the words “Be Merry Be Bright” from the Crate Paper and Illustrated Faith papers included in the Kit.  Once they were cut, I arranged them in a diagonal on the layout and machine stitched through each of the words for added texture.

I printed my photo in Black & White, so it would contrast with the patterned paper background and stand out from the pattern and the large title.  I decided to keep the embellishing more low key on this layout, because I really liked the look of the large title and didn’t want to cover it up with too many layers.  The Pinkfresh Studio Acetate Die Cuts, were perfect on the layout, because of the clear look.  And I used my tiny attacher to adhere them to the layout…quick and easy!  I finished with a few Crate Paper Snow & Cocoa stickers, because you can never have too many stickers…especially when they are this cute!

Adding a large title is a great way to cut down on your time at the craft table…it does a lot of the work for you.  And this is a great time-saver if you want to spend time crafting during the holiday season, but are short on time.

Thanks so much to Scrapbook Circle for inviting to Guest Design this month!  I had so much fun creating with the Wonderland Kit, and if you’re following me on social media, you’ll see more layouts using the Kit, during the holiday season!
