Take 2 challenge: happy GIRL layout
Hey crafty friends! Today, I’ve got a take 2 challenge layout for you! I was super inspired by Jennifer McMurtry’s layout from July. You can see her blog post here.
I loved the white cardstock, the explosion of confetti and embellishments coming out of one corner, the stitching, and the white space in her layout! This is not my typical style…While her layout is very organic, I often go for grids or lines in my layout. I also tend to heavily embellish around my photo, while this layout is embellished in the white space. I loved Jennifer’s layout so much though, I pretty much scraplifted everything, lol!
To make my layout, I used The Weekender October Kit. (Note: I did pull out the white Freckled Fawn hearts from the August Snapshot kit, and a few papers from the Pink Paislee Take Me Away 6×6 paper pad from the September Be You add-on kit.) I started out with the photo cluster of my pup Emma. I matted it with patterned paper, adhered it to the top right corner, then embellished it with various pieces from the kit. The flowers were hand cut from the Simple Stories Reset Girl pattern paper. I trimmed my white cardstock down, mounted it to a 12×12 pink striped pattern paper, and then added machine stitching.
Next, I added my title. (The G,I,R,& L are letters that I die cut from black cardstock.) I then added embellishments all around the title starting from the bottom left hand corner. I wanted to use different sizes and textures, so I used my hole punch to make confetti, I used other punches to punch circles, hearts and stars, I used chipboard stickers, I used sequins, I used the Pink Paislee wood veneer shapes, and I added more circles using a stencil and white texture paste. Like Jennifer, I was able to get more texture by machine stitching some of the pieces.
I absolutely love how this layout turned out. Again, without Jennifer’s layout as inspiration, I would never have come out up with this layout!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
