Happy Friday friends!  I am happy to share another layout by our amazing Guest Designer for October, Christin Gronnslett…I am always inspired by her creative combinations and custom style, and I know you will be too!  Using the current October “The Weekender” kit, Christin made this beautiful Fall page…here are her photos and descriptions:

“Hello everyone. Christin here again with another layout with the lovely October kit. I was inspired by the October challenged and went all in with different kinds of leaves. I have stenciled leaves, big cut out leaves and lots of combined leaves and some fussy cutting and some gold Thickers from the kit and most of all – lots of leaves …”

For this layout I went a little bolder with the colors to match the darker colors in the photo and I could add more contrast. Instead of a process video I am giving you lots of photos of my process.  Each photo in the background process represents 1-2 layers and I used a heat gun in between.”

“I don’t use that many colors in the first layer, just making a base and mixing in a few colors.”

When the first layers have dried I can add contrast colors and I drop a few different colors of mist.”

“Since this is going to be a more masculine page I added distress ink with a stencil, that way the contrast is still somewhat subtle compared to spraying a mist and most important – you have much more control.”

“Then it’s time for some heavy gesso and a stencil with leaves, this adds some more texture.”

“A few more drops of mists on top of the white gesso.”

“I recently got a Cameo3 and this is my first attempt at cutting out the title on my background paper.  I also cut out some combined leaves and sprayed them with gold mist.”

“For my last layer before starting with the patterned paper I stapled some cut out leaves with the gold leaves. My stapler doesn’t like thick layers so I have to take a few papers at a time.”

“This is the finished layout. I layered all the papers and tried to avoid the same colors in layers on top of each other.  This means no white on white or blue on blue. I do however like to use lots of paper in the same colors – I just keep them apart.

I would like to say thanks for this opportunity, I had a great time with the kit.”

Thank you SO much Christin for all your inspiration and hard work this month…I think this might have been the best month to focus on your watercolor styled background and the patterns of Fall.  Also the few pieces of black & white patterned paper in the kit are the perfect compliment.  Your ability to combine so much into one project truly baffles me and I strive to achieve the same balance!!  Thanks again!

I hope you all have enjoyed our GDT this month…it is only getting better, so make sure you come back, share your projects on our FB community page and go make an amazing Fall background for your memories!! 🙂
