Tech Tip – Foiled Again!

Hello Scrapbook Circle Friends! Today I want to share with you how you can take your printables to the next level and create some really fabulous projects!

I recently had a birthday and my husband surprised me with a Minc, which applies foil to projects much like a laminator. I have used foil before but only with special glue and sticker paper. Skip to the fun part – I discovered that when you print with a laser printer, not ink jet, the foil will stick to the toner when fed through the laminator! Upon learning that, I started trying to put foil on everything but the kitchen sink!

To begin, I used my laser printer and printed the July printable in black and white.

After cutting the printable into separate pieces, I fed it through the laminator and got the following results.

Soon afterward, I was trying to foil anything and everything. This was truly a process of trial and error – I never knew what the foil would or would not adhere to. I was pleasantly surprised to find that some of the paper and embellishments from Elle’s Studio would take the foil as well as the printables. One tip I can give you is that the foil sticks much better to the darker images than the lighter ones.

Once I had foiled to my heart’s delight, I created an anchor for my photo with the papers and added embellishments from the July Add-on Kits.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are inspired to create!

I’m just curious because my maiden name was McMurtrey and I never see that spelling

By any chance were your husbands family from Missouri?

  • That is awesome! My husband’s family is mainly from the Oklahoma area and are members of the Choctaw tribe.
