Guest Designer – Nancy Damiano!
Hi there friends! I am thrilled to introduce July’s Guest Designer, Nancy Damiano. She has an amazing, clean style that is always full of color and thoughtful details! Check out her Bio and project below using the current ‘Today Is the Day’ kit.
“I’ve been scrapbooking for 10+ years and I still love it today as much as the fateful day I stumbled upon the scrapbook aisle at Michael’s. I scrapbook a mix of everyday life and moments. It’s all about merging beautiful colors + a good story for me. If I have something to say, I scrapbook it! live in New Jersey with my husband, son, and a gaggle of nieces and nephews that I adore. I have a passion for the color aqua, Disney World, and anything paper + craft. I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember. I learned long ago that the best things are handmade. Thanks so much for letting me share what I do with the Circle!”
Here is Nancy’s bright, colorful layout and description in her own words!
This page is all about that fringe! By cutting apart the bold stripe in the Elle’s Studio patterned paper, I was able to create rows and rows of frilly fringe that ground the layout. This is my punch of color, texture and movement all in one.
I started with two things here – a bold idea for fringe + a favorite photo from my son’s toddler years. He’s 10 now, so the story is from the perspective of me looking back. It’s what I like about not scrapbooking in chronological order. Time changes the stories and that’s a good thing! The toddler years were demanding physically and I don’t think I could do that again at this age. But there was something magical about having a little one that was impressed by so little. Just Dad throwing him in the air was the best. I want to remember that and writing about it 7 years later, makes it that much sweeter.
Since the background is packed with color and texture, the title needed some serious layering so that it would get lost! I handout the “hello” portion from white card stock and layered the yellow acrylic “sunshine” exclusive from the kit. Next, using the banner puffy sticker just underneath the title ties it to the background and also underlines it and gives it weight.
The photo has some blank white space at the lower right side. To add a punch of color and draw the eye up to the subject (my son flying in the air!), I added a diagonal path leading right up to him with the puffy heart stickers.
Merging stories + color + fun techniques is what I love about this hobby. The Scrapbook Circle kit this month was the perfect fit!
Nancy will be joining us again in a couple weeks with another project…make sure to come back!
Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!
