Take 2 challenge: Sugar & Spice
Hey guys! I’m super excited to be taking part of the Take 2. For this, I was challenged to scrap lift a layout from a previous kit or Design Team member’s layout. Since I am relatively new to the design team, I was looking around in the ideas tab on the Scrapbook Circle website. There is so much inspiration in that tab, but when I came across Gina Lideros’s You are my Favorite ideas from July 2015, I spotted a layout that I had to scrap lift!
Here is her layout:
Here is my layout:
I was so inspired by the giant alpha in Gina’s layout! Even though the letters are so huge, the small photo still manages to shine. For my layout, I used the June Now or Never kit. I hand cut some letters out of the Pink Fresh studio confetti hearts paper (the pink is side B of this paper). You can see my tech tip post here on how I make & hand cut my own oversized letters without a cutting machine. Then I created by background. I cut down a piece of white cardstock, and mounted it to the Bella Blvd black & white floral stripes paper. (Tip: when I use a patterned paper as a background frame under another piece of paper, I always cut out a square from the middle to save and use it on another project, since you won’t see that it’s missing.) I sewed along the edges to give it some texture. Next, I aligned all my letters, leaving room for my photo, on the paper. Once I was satisfied with how everything was looking, I glued all the letters down using a T ruler to help keep everything straight. I added my photo, embellished by layers of paper, Elle’s Studio cut out hearts, a heart from the Illustrated Faith enamel heart, and an arrow punched from the same Bella Blvd black & white floral stripes paper. I also added 2 punched butterflies to fill in some of the negative space, and to kind of mimic the triangle stencils in Gina’s layout.
I absolutely love how this layout turned out. I don’t think I would have ever tried such a bold title if I hadn’t seen it on Gina’s layout. I hope you’re inspired too, to create and perhaps make your own Take 2 layout!
Have a beautiful day!
