Using your May digicuts

The digicuts for the month of May are awesome. Those triangles are one of my all time favorite cut files. For the layout I didn’t want to use the triangle digicut as is. I wanted to modify it a little bit. I wanted the triangles to be a little larger and instead of them having a square border, I wanted them to have a circle border. In order to this,  you need to do the following:

  • Enlarge the cut file by dragging the corner of the cut file in silhouette software:

  • Select the circle shape and draw it on the enlarged cut file:

  • Now, you need to crop the background cut file to the circle that you drew on the foreground. In order to do this, from the ‘Object’ menu, select ‘Modify’ option and then click on ‘Crop’ as shown below:

  • You are then left with the background file masked by a circle as shown below:

This is what I used as the background for my photos. I backed each of those triangles with papers from Amy Tan 6×6 paper from the Bloom and Grow kit. I also used the ‘Love This’ cut file as the title for the layout. Here is how the layout came together:

I cut my photos in circles too. In order to this I used the print and cut feature in silhouette software. I wanted to add more circles, so I used a circle punch to punch out the hearts from one of Ellle’s Studio Little Moments Journaling Tags in the Bloom and Grow kit. I also thought that the pop of yellow in Maggie Holmes bloom rubber embellishment was just perfect as it matched with my title and one of the punched hearts and added it to the end of my journaling. That completed my layout. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I would love to see your creations with the digital cut files from this month.
