Guest Designer – Paige Evans!

Hi Scrapbook Circle friends!  We are thrilled to be introducing our Guest Designer for May, Paige Evans!  Paige has one of the most recognizable design style and technique all her own.  She has constantly amazed me with her talent for using the bare essentials to create stunning pages that are in all honestly, works of art.  Her ability to combine pattern, color and infuse her unique spirit is part of why her collection, ‘Fancy Free’ with Pink Paislee is so exciting.  In her own words, Paige said about herself:

“I’ve been scrapbooking since I was 16 years old and have loved it every day since! I just released my own scrapbooking line with Pink Paislee called Fancy Free and I love that some pieces of it were included in the May kits! I’ve been married to my best friend for 9 years and we have two wonderful children: Fox (5.5) and Jane (4). We currently live on a US Army base in Germany and absolutely love to travel! I love to create every day and dabble in scrapbooking, bookbinding, DIY crafts, and more. Thank you for letting me share!”

This is what Paige had to say about her page using the May ‘Here & There’ kit:

“To make this layout I started by cutting wedges from the lighter patterned papers in the May kit – so mostly a white background with colors on top. Then I distressed the edges and pieced them in a sunburst around a white cardstock background. To help the papers stay in place I stitched over them with a sewing machine. In the center I layered a photo over journaling cards and a tag and the gold striped bag some of the embellishments came in! Waste not want not 🙂 After adding a few more embellishments and a die cut title, I journaled on the right side, dropped paint around, and then glued on a few sequins.”

I love the contrast in the patterns and colors with the photo that is hazy and makes you look closer to see the detail.  She used many different papers, but chose the pieces that had lots of white space.  Her stitching and simple distressing of the edges of the angled papers adds a tiny bit of dimension.  I am always inspired to get into my craft room and play with patterned paper after seeing Paige’s creations!  Paige will be back during May sharing more of her designs with us.
