Designer’s Choice: Selfie Fun

Hello! Welcome back to the blog. It’s Claudia here with you and today I will be sharing my designer’s choice layout using this month’s Here & Now kit. I love this kit so much, everything about it is exactly my style and it’s just so fun and colorful. I’m using white cardstock for my background but I always like to add some sort of patterned paper to the background so it doesn’t look as plain. For this layout I decided on this gorgeous piece of paper from the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection that came in the kit because it adds a nice pop of color but the paper isn’t too busy. I then cut another small strip off of the same paper and used the other side to add a pop of pink.

I’m using multiple photos on this layout, which is something I don’t do all that often. I tend to struggle a bit if my photo takes up a lot of space on the layout so I like to get my photos printed in a smaller size so I can use multiple photos without them taking up a lot of space. I use Photoshop to put my photos in a collage before I get them printed, but I’m sure there’s free software out there too that allows you to do the same thing.

Layering is one of my favorite things so of course I had to do it on this layout too. I really like to tear off the edges of my layers, I find that it makes it look really interesting. There’s not really a way to mess that up, but if you wan’t to make sure you don’t tear off too much of your paper – you can just use a ruler to keep the tearing within ‘boundaries’.

I love the thicker set that came in this month’s add on kit because it’s so colorful but I’m not really a thicker person so I always try to think of other ways to use up my thickers. On this layout I used them for layering behind my photo which on top of adding some nice dimension also adds a nice pop of color.

I added a short title on top of my photos to add an extra pop of color there to make the layout look more balanced. The last thing I did was add some gold splatters using the Heidi Swapp Color Shine from my stash. I think adding splatters (of any kind) are a great way finish a project.

I also have a process video up on my Youtube channel where you can see how I created this layout from start to finish;

Thank you so much for visiting. I hope that I was able to inspire you in some way. I hope you will have a scrappy weekend! 🙂
