LIVE colorfully – Guest Designer Missy Whidden
Hello everyone! Our April Guest Designer Missy Whidden has outdone herself with this layout! I absolutely love her style, which is so much more loose and artsy and everything that comes harder for me, and Missy makes look easy and intuitive! She truly makes the simplest techniques look amazing using the April ‘One Fine Day’ main kit, the ‘Stay Cool’ Add-on, and the ‘Now or Never’ Add-on.
Missy made another video of her creative process and you can click HERE to see it!
Here is what Missy had to say about her layout:
“I wanted to create a bright and fun layout, so I decided to create a fun frame with all the pretty Pinkfresh Studio washi tape. I cut apart the Webster’s Pages sheet and used a few of the 3×4 cards to add to the right side of the layout. The Dear Lizzy die cut phrase was the perfect title. The colors all coordinate and work so well together! I added some clear gesso to my background and came in with some watercolors. I used a lot of blue on the background to balance out all the pinks. I added lots of machine stitching, one of those gorgeous Crate Paper stitched hearts, and some Elle’s Studio Bits & Pieces. I finished it off with a few of the Dear Lizzy sentiment stickers and a few of the Simple Stories Bradz.”
Here is a little Q&A with Missy about her style and process:
1. In three words, describe your scrapbooking style…?
Artsy Organized Chaos
2. Do you set aside time to scrapbook, or do you get creative when the feeling strikes?
I usually have time set aside each day to work on projects. If I’m filming for a process video, I try to work during the day. If the creative bug strikes, I’ll stay up late to finish a project, but I prefer to work when I have lots of natural light in my craft room.
3. What is the one thing you do when you feel lacking in creativity??
When I’m in a creative slump, I will surf Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration. There are so many amazing scrappers out there, and I almost always find someone else’s work that inspires me. I also look back through my own layouts and try to scraplift myself.
We are SO thankful to Missy for sharing her innovative techniques and talent with us the month! Make sure you catch her process video!
Thanks for stopping by the Blog and have an amazing day!
