October Technique Challenge: Black and White Photos

The colors in the October kit, Mix Tape, are vibrant and rich. The saturated blues, yellows, pinks and reds are balanced out with black and white patterns. One of my favorite techniques for working with bright colors is to use black and white photographs. By not having to coordinate with the colors of your pictures, it’s easier to mix and match papers and those bold patterns and colors actually place more emphasis on your photos. Our October technique challenge is to do just that: create a layout with black and white photos. To kickstart your creativity, team member Jenni has this fabulous layout to share:

Jenni created her colorful background by cutting strips from the chevron Illustrated Faith paper in the Mix Tape kit. Colorful clouds and coordinating word flags make a rainbow-like base for her darling black and white photos.
