Designer’s Choice: Finishing Pages

Hiya! Today I thought I’d share a different kind of process video. This one, is about finishing your pages. I started out with the foundations and had a good idea of where my photos were going to go….or had already adhered them down. This picks up at the point when I’m adding all of those final details: the title, embellishments & journaling.

[Apologies that the embedding isn’t working. Will see what we can do about it! For now, if you’re interested then click the link]

Here are all of the final finished pages!

Designer Take – Jenni’s At An Angle

Our current technique challenge is to create a page designed on an angle. I have to admit, something about this technique scares me a bit, but seeing creative team member Jenni’s take has put my fears at ease and makes me want to go scrap a page on an angle right this moment:

Jenni used the very paper (from the Make it Happen kit) that inspired the challenge.

I love how Jenni chose a large – and beautiful! – photo, and that she kept all of her page elements parallel.

Are you inspired? We’d love to have you play along! Check out the original challenge post here. You still have one more week to play along. Thanks for visiting today!

One Item Wonder: Scrapbook Circle Embellishments

This month’s kit – Make it Happen – includes three sets of exclusive Scrapbook Circle embellishments: glitter foam stickers, an acrylic “be”, and wood veneer:

I wanted to have some fun with the glitter foam stickers, so I put them front and center on this layout:

I love how the glitter foam stickers – in gold and black – complimented the glitter foam stickers by Pinkfresh Studios that are in the Sweet Details add-on. They played very well with each other, especially once I cut into the title to insert the pinked edge circle sticker:

The stickers were designed to coordinate perfectly. I love how the gold glitter matches the gold foil from the Crate Paper stickers also in the Sweet Details add-on:

Have you used any of the exclusive Scrapbook Circle embellishments this month? We’d love to see! Post your project to our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram (@scrapbook_circle). Have a great day!

Lifting You — Jenni

For today’s Lifting You feature, creative team member Gina lifted one of the other creative team gals, Jenni. Here is the layout of Jenni’s that Gina chose to lift.

Below you can see Gina’s lifted layout. She used a pie chart like Jenni’s and also used two photos.

Instead of just stitching around the edges like Jenni did,  Gina used a sewing machine to stitch throughout.  Also, instead of putting her title around the circle of the layout like Jenni did, she placed her title directly under one of the photos.

Gina Lideros August Tasty Treats

Gina used the August main kit and add-on’s to make her page.

I don’t know about you, but I know I’m inspired now to try something like this. What a great way to apply a unique shape to your layouts!

Thanks, Gina, for the great Lifting You feature for today.

EXTRA Embellishments

I tend to use a clean and simple style for the majority of my layouts. But Scrapbook Circle kits always have such a fun assortment of embellishments that sometimes it can be fun to pile them on! 🙂rk sc aug 8

It always amazes me how Scrapbook Circle kits combine collections and brands in a way that I would never think to and yet they all work together so well!rk sc aug-9

I bought the add on this month too, so I had lots of choices. From Pink Fresh Studio’s “lovely” glitter foam stickers to Elle’s Studio tags.rk sc aug-10

I even cut apart patterned paper and punched it into borders creating more embellishment opportunities.rk sc aug-11

I don’t have a lot of patience for fussy cutting but those stars were begging to be cut out and popped up on dimensional adhesive!rk sc aug-12

The multicolored and patterned Fancy Pants alphas are so striking on black cardstock!rk sc aug-13

And the Scrapbook Circle exclusive wood veneer always adds the perfect touch!rk sc aug-14When it comes to embellishments are you a less is more scrapper or do you prefer to use it all?

DT Choice: Inspired by product

It’s Jennifer Larson, sharing a page about a family tradition: ice cream.

Every time we go on vacation, we get ice cream. After a long hike, after going up Bunker Hill, after climbing a mountain–we get ice cream. I know this isn’t that unusual, but I didn’t think to scrap this tradition until I saw the Poolside letters in the August add-on You Shine. The words “Ice Cream” jumped out at me, and I thought about our most recent vacation and all the times we had ice cream and decided to scrapbook just the ice cream, using the Poolside words as a part of the title. (I used the letter stickers in the Sweet Details add-on for the rest of the title!) Here’s the page:

The Importance of Ice Cream by Jennifer Larson

I chose the Studio Calico Seven paper because I’d printed my photos wallet-sized and they fit across the page. I added the pink-striped paper  Fancy Pants Summer Floral at the top because it made me think of the awning on an ice-cream parlor. Since I was going full Ice Cream with this layout, I cut out a square from the Pinkfresh Happy Words paper to house the Elle’s Studio die cut from You Shine and added the ice cream sticker from Sweet Details. The add-ons truly helped add the right toppings to this page! Here’s some details:

More die cuts from Elle’s Studio–they were perfect!

The Importance of Ice Cream details 3

That’s my page all about ice cream! I invite you to look through this month’s kit and find elements that remind you of stories that you have never scrapped! Please share what you’ve done on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

August Technique Challenge: At an Angle

Back to school means back to math class, and we’ve got some fun geometry for our next challenge! Inspired by the Seven Paper “Amelia” patterned paper in the Make it Happen kit, the August Technique challenge is to design a layout on an angle:

Creative team member Jamie is sharing her take on the challenge with us today:

angle 1

Jamie pulled blue, white and black from the kit and created her own angled strips of patterned paper and cardstock. Jamie says, “I love the movement angles give to a page. It’s like there’s energy there. For this page in particular, I kept my photo upright and the angled papers allow your eyes to go straight to it.”

angle 2

Are you ready to give an angle a try? Here’s how to play along with our challenge:

1. Create a layout designed on an angle. We would love to see a Scrapbook Circle kit in action, but any materials will do.

2. Post your layout to your blog, our Facebook page, or an online gallery. Copy and paste a direct link to your post into the comments on this post.

3. You have TWO weeks to play. Enter by 9:00 pm Pacific time on Wednesday, September 2nd to be eligible to win this amazing Dear Lizzy prize:

You also have two weeks left to join our August Kit-Inspired challenge: Title Takeover. More details here. Good luck and happy scrapping!

DT Choice | Relaxing

Hi there!!  I’m so happy to share a quick, fun layout I did using the August ‘Make It Happen’ Main kit and the ‘You Shine’ Add-on.Relaxing_SBC_Aug 2015 border

I had this photo from our last vacation and immediately paired it with the Pinkfresh Studio gold vellum cards and the Studio Calico 6×6 pad.  I love the simple graphics of the vellums and added the gold sequin heart and star glitter sticker from Scrapbook Circle.

I love the movement in the water and that nspired me to watercolor the white cardstock background.  I wanted to switch it up a bit by using yellow & hot pink watercolors and layered a photo cluster on top.  I adhered the base down to another piece of cardstock and grunged it up by sewing the edges and distressing the edges.

This was a fun, fast page using colors that are not as traditional for a summer, swimming page!  And I loved it!

Thanks for checking out the Blog today…I hope you have an amazing day!

One Item Wonder: Sequin Stickers by Crate Paper

Being a dance teacher, I have a soft spot in my heart for sequins. When I saw the Crate Paper sequin stickers in the Make it Happen kit, I couldn’t help but fall in love.

love 4

In fact, I made “love” my title on this page about my little girl all dressed up for her first birthday party:

love 1

I backed the open spaces in the “o” and “e” with a patterned paper for extra oomph. I added the sequin heart to fill the space and the sequin chevrons made perfect photo corners.

love 2

I tied in all the gold sequins with the gold-foiled stickers (also by Crate Paper and in the Sweet Details add-on kit).

love 3

Have you played with these sequin stickers yet? We’d love to see what you do! Be sure to share on our Facebook page. Have a great day!
