Inspiration & an Interview: Jennifer

As we celebrate Scrapbook Circle’s 9th anniversary this month, we are sharing our creative team’s favorite layouts created with this month’s kit – Hello Sunshine – as well as a little Q and A with each one. Our last creative team member to feature is Jennifer!

Faves by Jennifer LarsonQ: Tell us about your scrapbook page. What does it mean to you?

A: I don’t normally take photos like this—I had just gotten my repaired phone back from the shop and texted this photo to my husband. I love the phot because it makes me laugh, so I decided to make a page about my favorite things using this photo.

Q: What is your favorite, go-to technique when creating your pages?

A: Layering and sewing. I love overlapping elements on a page and “nailing them down” with stitches.

Faves Details 2

Q: What’s the first thing you do when your kit arrives?

A: I tend to put the box away until I have a free hour or so to open it and look through the kit. (Delayed gratification is good for me!) I first flip though the papers, checking out the colors, then I pull out the embellishments to see how big they are and what they feel like. At that point I go through my photos and find ones that remind me of the kit.

Q: If you could design the next Scrapbook Circle project kit (like this one, or this one), what would it be?

A: A library card memento drawer. I have printers’ drawers hanging on my walls and would love a small version like a library card drawer to keep a photo and some mementos.

Q: What do you love most about Scrapbook Circle?

A: I love how many pages I can make out of each kit—I never seem to run out of my favorites! That plus the colors and the inspirations from the design team—I love browsing their ideas. I find myself constantly thinking, “Wow! That is so clever/gorgeous/inspiring!”

We think your work is inspiring, too, Jennifer! Thank you for sharing with us today. Have a good one! Tessa

Inspiration & Interviews: Valerie and Jamie

As we celebrate Scrapbook Circle’s 9th anniversary this month, we are sharing our creative team’s favorite layouts created with this month’s kit – Hello Sunshine – as well as a little Q and A with each one. First up today, Valerie:

Q: Tell us about your scrapbook page. What does it mean to you?

A: I love to capture the current moment for myself once in a while. So this photo was to document my one year anniversary since I started weight training.

Q: What is your favorite, go-to technique when creating your pages?

A: I love love layering and sewing technique. Even I didn’t use any technique here on this layout but they are my all time favorite.

Q: What’s the first thing you do when your kit arrives?

A: Take everything (main kit and add ons) out and sort them again. Especially papers.

Q: If you could design the next Scrapbook Circle project kit (like this one, or this one), what would it be?

A: Photo album (8.5X11 travel album)

Q: What do you love most about Scrapbook Circle?

A: The variety of trendy and delicious products and embellishments.

Next up, Jamie!

1505May-Thirty00

Q: Tell us about your scrapbook page. What does it mean to you?

A: I try to make a page every year, highlighting xx number of facts about me at xx age. This past year I turned 30, so this was my 30 at 30 list. I love looking back at these pages to see what has changed (or what hasn’t changed) over time.

Q: What is your favorite, go-to technique when creating your pages?

1505May-Thirty02

A: I love playing with transparency and making my pages interactive. This layout does both. I cut up labels and hand wrote my 30 facts, that I then slipped into a vellum pocket I stitched onto the page. You can kind of make out what some of the top ones say. I like the little mystery there. If anyone wants to read them all, they’ll have to reach in and grab them.

1505May-Thirty03

Q: What’s the first thing you do when your kit arrives?

A: I love spreading everything out to see what the color story for the month is. My pages are very color driven. I often only use 3-4 complimentary colors on a page OR I try to use them all! I think that may be why my collection of pages each month always looks so different!

Q: If you could design the next Scrapbook Circle project kit (like this one, or this one), what would it be?

A: Lots of black and white elements mixed in with bright colors. I’d throw in some green & yellow (my favorite) since summer is coming up. I’d like to see stamps and washi tape and fun funky embellishments.

Q: What do you love most about Scrapbook Circle?

A: I love the ratio of exclusive and non-exclusive products in every kit. I want my kit club to give me the latest and greatest from the industry, alongside a few exclusive that amp up the whole kit. And Scrapbook Circle absolutely delivers on this every month!

Valerie and Jamie, we are inspired! Thank you for sharing with us today. Have a good one! Tessa

Inspiration & an Interview: Monika

As we celebrate Scrapbook Circle’s 9th anniversary this month, we are sharing our creative team’s favorite layouts created with this month’s kit – Hello Sunshine – as well as a little Q and A with each one. Our next designer is Monika!

LO epic Mona scQ: Tell us about your scrapbook page. What does it mean to you?

A: For this page I used photo taken on my older son’s 10th birthday. It is our tradition to make a short photo session  on this day. I still can’t believe he is TEN, time flies too fast! I jotted down  also things he loves to do, so he can remember it. This page means so much for me as a mother.

Q: What is your favorite, go-to technique when creating your pages?

A: I really like layering and ink splashes. I always put it in my projects (not only on my layouts).

det sc mona

Q: What’s the first thing you do when your kit arrives?

A: The very first thing is ripping the package, diving into the plastic bags and looking at all these little embellishments inside – I like papers and alphabets, but embellishments make me so crazy. Always.

Q: If you could design the next Scrapbook Circle project kit (like this one, or this one), what would it be?

A: I like pastel and neon colors, I like blues, yellows and pinks. I think I would put these colors inside. But I really love SBC kits so much and I think they’re perfect and so universal and various.

Q: What do you love most about Scrapbook Circle?

A: To be honest I love all: kits, addons and especially all these creative girls in the Team.

Monika, we love you, too! Thanks for sharing this beautiful layout and a bit more about yourself.

Readers, don’t forget we are also celebrating this week with a blog hop! You have until midnight on the 21st to hop, so if you haven’t had a chance yet, start here. Five May kits are up for grabs!

Have a wonderful day! Tessa

Q: If you could design the next Scrapbook Circle project kit (likethis one, or this one), what would it be?

A: A mix of American Crafts, Pink Paislee, and Crate paper and Pinkfresh Studio

Q: What do you love most about Scrapbook Circle?

A: The mix of brands, mix of patterns, and mix of embellishments that coordinate so beautifully together.

Inspiration & an Interview: Jenni

As we celebrate Scrapbook Circle’s 9th anniversary this month, we are sharing our creative team’s favorite layouts created with this month’s kit – Hello Sunshine – as well as a little Q and A with each one. Our next designer is Jenni!

233_SBC_May 2015 border

Q: Tell us about your scrapbook page. What does it mean to you?

A: The photograph on my page captures the light through our windows den at sunset.  The leaded glass cast the most amazing light refractions across the ceiling and walls.  This scrapbook layout means a lot to me because it documents all the hard work my husband and I have done in our home!  As architects, and sometimes frustrated architects, we use our home as our creative outlet.  We have almost finished renovating our retro mod ranch from top to bottom over the last 8 years.  After seeing this amazing dark wood grain paper from Chickaniddy Crafts I knew I wanted to document some piece of our house.  The name of the paper is appropriately called ‘Weekend Wonder!’

Q: What is your favorite, go-to technique when creating your pages?

A: I love layers and layering…the more the better!  It is a way for me to add lots of color and details to draw you into a page.  I almost always sew parts of the embellishments or paper to the background.  I love the subtle texture sewing adds as well as permanently adhering those pieces to the page.

233_SBC_May 2015 (8)

Q: What’s the first thing you do when your kit arrives?

A: The first thing I do when my kit arrives is do a happy dance! Winking smile  After that, I sift through all the papers and sort them by the pattern I will most likely use.  Obviously, having the extra paper kit helps make this easier.  I also print out the exclusive monthly printables on white cardstock to keep with the patterned paper.

Q: If you could design the next Scrapbook Circle project kit (likethis one, or this one), what would it be?

A: I would LOVE to put together a kit, but it would be so hard to narrow things down!  I can’t wait to see more of the new Dear Lizzy ‘Fine & Dandy’ collection…just looking at it makes me smile.  I am super excited about the new Project Kits that are being offered and would love to put one together for party décor or art journaling!

233_SBC_May 2015 (7)

Q: What do you love most about Scrapbook Circle?

A: Scrapbook Circle holds a special place in my heart because I was an avid subscriber before being on the design team.  After doing lots of research before committing to a monthly kit subscription, I loved the diversity and focus that Scrapbook Circle has without being overly complicated.  The DT and subscribers are laid back, talented and most importantly supportive!

We love your layouts and blog posts every month, Jenni! Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself. More creative team interviews and fabulous layouts to come – have a great day!

Mood Board Inspiration for May

SC-Mood-5-15

Hello! For this month’s Mood Board inspiration we had a few of the creative team gals play along. Here is how they were inspired to create using this image.

Valerie-mood

Valerie said, “I’ve always a big fan of Diana’s mood board ever since I joined the team. And I am super excited to have an opportunity to work on it with the May Hello Sunshine kit. I love all the elements and of course the bright colors are also my favorite. So I can’t help but to create a travel theme layout. Hope this will inspire you to play along as well.”

rk sc may-1

Rebecca said, “I used the Pink Paislee 4×4 card to represent the pineapples and the pink background color is for the pink roller skate. I used the Crate Paper glittered heart is for the All You Need is Love sign, and I also fussy cut a piece of flower in the right hand upper corner for the flower pillow. I punched out the ampersand from the exclusive SC card to represent the silver ampersand and then added the scattered circle tags are for the nail polish bottles. For the final touch, the journaling strip stickers are for the stacks of bracelets.

Epic Change by Jennifer Larson

Jennifer said, “I was inspired by the colors, sort of like spumoni ice cream. They matched the photo, so I selected products that matched. The sprinkles in the nail polish spilling out of the bag and the round roller skate wheels made me dig out some mists to splatter on the page.”

DianaWwonderfulmothersday

Diana W. Said: “I wanted to add a little something to my page that “reminded me” of the pineapple fringe.  I used my Martha Steward fringing scissors and a 6 x 6 sheet from the Sweet Day add on. I cut the sheet to 1 1/2″ x 6″.  I then stacked them one on top of the other and cut. After my page was completed I covered my picture with a scrap piece of paper and sprinkled my gold mist in drops on my page. I then dipped a paint brush into the gold mist and painted the edges.”

So there you have it! Plenty of amazing inspiration to get you thinking about how you can best use a mood board to spark creativity.

If you use the Mood Board for this month, we’d love to see it! Share it with us by posting your layout to the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.
