Designer’s Choice: Pages about men

Hello, it’s Jennifer Larson, sharing a few ideas for using kits to scrap about men, particularly using products that might not seem so masculine.

I used this February’s kit to make a page about my husband’s new hobby, brewing mead. I’m not sure what sort of patterns and colors would go on a ┬ápage about mead, so I just decided to use┬áthe lovely February kit. Here’s what I did:

You’ll note I used hearts, glitter, and pink, not typical for a page about men. Here’s a few things I did to make the combo less feminine:

1. I went with strong lines.

2. I used arrows.

3. I went with a basically monochromatic page.

4. The pinks were very muted.

5. The primary colors were neutrals–browns and white.

6. I used few embellishments, just to draw attention to the focal point photo.

So those are my suggestions for using typically feminine colors, shapes, and products on a a man’s scrapbooking layout! I hope it gives you ideas for expanding the ways you use your kits!
