October Technique Challenge: Artist’s Palette

We are going to get a little messy with our technique challenge this month! When I opened the On This Day kit, the first thing I noticed was how colorful it was. I felt like I was looking at an artist’s palette. With that in mind, I decided our next challenge would be to use mediums like paint, ink, mist, gelatos, molding paste, etc. to get artsy on a layout. I asked Gina to get us started, and she has a fabulous use of watercolors to share with us:

Inspired by the Echo Park chipboard circles from the Right Now add-on, Gina created her own version with watercolors.

Gina says, “I used a circle punch to punch out several different sized circles out of white cardstock, then I used a journaling pen to doodle a fine line (near the edge of each circle) before painting them with watercolor paints.  Next, I cut them in half and placed them randomly around my page.  Next, I added my photo and other embellishments. I also added a few drops of white paint.”

I love how bold, colorful and fun this page is! Thanks for the inspiration, Gina! Are you ready to get out your watercolors or other artsy mediums? We’d love for you to join us and here’s how to do it:

1. Create a layout using artsy mediums like paint, mist, ink, gelatos, etc. We would love to see a Scrapbook Circle kit in action, but any materials will do.

2. Post your layout to your blog, our Facebook page, or an online gallery. Come back to this post and leave a direct link to your layout in the comments.

3. You have THREE weeks to play. Enter by Wednesday, November 5th, 9 pm Pacific to be eligible to win this Elle’s Studio Sycamore Lane prize!
