One Item Wonder: Scrapbook Circle Exclusives

Each month the kit includes a variety of exclusives by Scrapbook Circle. These printables, tags, stamps, cut files, and embellishments coordinate perfectly with the kit and help you created one-of-a-kind layouts and projects. I asked creative team member Gina to share with us how she used the September stamps, cut file and printable. Let’s take a look:

Gina_Lideros_YouAmazeMe_SBC-917x1024Gina used an exclusive stamp in the top left corner. I just adore those triangles and am sure this stamp will get a lot of use for months to come! Gina also used the grid cut file as a layer behind her photo. She enlarged the design, then cut the file from white cardstock and used watercolors to add color. The subtle coloring and the grid design add a lot of interest to her layout.

GinaLideros_YouAmazeMe_SneakGina put the printable to use for her title and sub-title. Don’t they look great with the patterned paper?

GinaLideros_YouAmazeMe_sneak2How have you used the Scrapbook Circle exclusives this month? We would love to see! Be sure to share with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page. Have a great day!

Lifting You — Wendi

Today we are sharing Gina’s lift of subscriber Wendi’s layout. Wendi shared this layout with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

I instantly loved that triangle in the background of her page with the cluster of stitched circles. The letters in the lower corner are a great addition to the page, too.

Here is what Gina made to lift Wendi.

Gina kept her ‘lift’ pretty similar to the original but added journaling to lefthand side. She also shifted her large chevron over to the lefthand side and added watercolor paints to her title.

Gina’s Tip: To add sparkle to my layout, I cut strips of gold glitter from the My Mind’s Eye Just Sayin’ Glittered Garden Party (included in the main kit).

Gina used the September Time Flies add on and the This Place add on.

Thanks for the inspiration, girls!

To be considered for our Lifting You feature, just share your work using Scrapbook Circle kits on the Facebook page. You could be our next lift!

Designer’s Choice: Folding Paper

I love a good grid. They’re such a great go to design. For this page, I added a bit of twist on your traditional grid. I folded my background paper. I love the instant depth that it added! And the fun dimension.

Once the edges were folded, I sanded them a bit to add some texture. I also used a dauber to add some distress ink. There’s  just something so pleasing about those squares. Don’t you think?1409Sept-Travel02 1409Sept-Travel03

Folding was so quick and simple. And it added just the big of oomph I felt that background needed. I love how this turned out!

Be sure to share your folder paper projects on the Facebook Group.

Designer Choice: 5 minue layout idea and it’s all about me!!

Valerie Huang Celebrate Layout September kit-2

Hi all:

Happy weekend and thank you for stopping by!! It’s Valerie here today to share some quick ideas with the September Here + There kit, so hopefully this is helpful to get your weekend mojo going!!

I have a Question of The Day for you before we started. Do you often scrap about yourself? or when was the last time you took a selfie and scrap about yourself.

Often times, we are surrounded by events and a lot of love ones, and we forget about ourselves. It’s as important to document the then and now for our self as for our love ones.

So today is the time that we can spend a few minutes to just focus on ME!!

When I receive the beautiful September kit, I really love the Rub on in the main kit and Notes and Things 6X6 paper pads in the add on. So I knew right away I’s like to share a quick layout idea with these two of my favorite items.

So since this layout is all about ME! It makes perfect sense to use my favorite items.

This is my base page. I just use the whole 2 sheets of the rub on on the white cardstock. And I cut out some papers from the Notes and Thing 6X6 paper pad and sew them together on the bottom.

I added some of the left over embellishments from the kit and decorate my page accordingly.

Here are some more close ups. I hope you like my sharings and also please feel free to share your simple all about me page on our Facebook Page. We’d love to see them.

Designer Take: September Technique Challenge

Our September guest designer, Dona Howe, is playing along with our September technique challenge – to use sewing or stitching on a layout. Take a look at Dona’s beautiful double page:

Dona went the extra mile and used both machine stitching and hand stitching – in a pretty hot pink! Take a closer look at her title work:

She also stitched a “5” on this tag:

Besides stitching borders and words, Dona also sewed her buttons to her layout. I love the knot on the top!

Designer’s Choice : Layering

It’s not a secret that I love layering on my projects. And sewing too. Ok and some ink splashes too.  Today I want to share with you my layout with lot of layering made with paper’s strips. I used September Scrapbook Circle Kit “Here&There“, which is sold out unfortunately.

I have a couple of tips how to make such layout:

-I just cut with scissors strips of paper with random width. without ruler or trimmer.

-I also found a perfect photo of my son between two huge columns.

These two thing generated the composition of my project.

-I just needed to add some sewing and splashes and beautiful embellishments and my layout was ready.

Try to find an interesting photo, which could help compose the whole project. It could be grid, dots, strips or waves, you will see how it’s easy to make layout with it.

And here is my LO with some detail shots.:

One Item Wonder: Crate Paper Label Stickers

I love a good label, especially when it is comes on a roll, is self-adhesive, and has a  pretty design. The Crate Paper Notes and Things labels that are included in the Here & There kit fit that bill. I asked creative team member Audrey to share with us how she prettied up a layout using these gold-foiled, kraft stickers:

pool time SBC

Audrey mounted several labels onto small pieces of patterned paper from the 6×6 Shimelle paper pad. She lined them up on one edge of her layout and embellished and stamped a few of them. I love how the gold foil shines and how the kraft pops off of the colored paper.

To create some balance in her page, Audrey used kraft paper in other parts of her layout, resulting in a pleasing visual triangle.

Have you played with the Crate Paper label stickers yet? We would love to see how you used them! Please share with us on the Facebook page. Have a great day!

Take Two with Rebecca Keppel

The Scrapbook Circle blog has a fun blog feature called Take Two that means we get to scrap lift an old design. I chose this grid layout from May 2013 to lift.
rk sc bits of us

In the old layout I punched squares from photos and patterned papers and adhered them for my grid. Even more fun is to use a die cut grid to fill with papers and photos. I used the Scrapbook Circle exclusive Digital Cut that is available in our shop.

rk sc usI enlarged the cut to be about 11×11, stitched through the grid and mounted over patterned paper from the Main Scrapbook Circle Kit, Here + There. I bought both Add Ons this month (Time Flies and This Place), so I had two 6×6 pads to use to fill my squares.

Once you have the grid place in shape, you get to have fun decorating. You can use die cuts, chipboard stickers, rub ons, epoxy shapes, pretty much anything goes when it comes to filling in squares.  Here I stamped the exclusive Scrapbook Circle stamp on a square of patterned paper and then added a rub on.

Do you scrap lift yourself? Has owning a digital die cut machine advanced your scrap lifts to a new level?

🙂 Rebecca
