Circle Round up with Jamie

Hey y’all! I’m so excited to share my first layout on the blog! I had a blast playing with this kit and the Circle Round up challenge, my first for the team. Here’s this month’s prompt:

For this challenge, you pick one item from each circle to create your page with. I love this idea! It really helps you look at your kit in a different way and absolutely encourages you to use these oh so fabulous products.

For this page I used the Echo Park Bokeh Teal as the background. But for the look I was going for, I wanted something more subdued. So I added white cardstock in a corner and stitched it down for some added texture. I like that jolt of color along the edge.

To add some bold accents, I reached for the Basic Grey Byzantine patterned paper. Cutting it up into tiny slivers helped emphasize all of the great colors in the print, without overwhelming the page. I used it sparingly as a border for my photo and for the big “X” across my page. I love that it adds so much color!

For texture, I used nearly everything in that circle–exclusive cork tags, yellow twine, and the kit stamp. I had fun stamping this in a bunch of different colors. I hand stitched the “X”‘s in the checkbox with the twine, to give them a bit more dimension.

And from the Tiki Torch add-on, I used those great Elle’s Studio journaling tags. I tucked it  (the numbered list) behind the photo and hid my journaling there.

I loved having the parameters of the prompt to act as my guide. It helped me to look at the products in a different way and to see them with new potential. AND it made sure that some of my favorite items (like the Byzantine print & cork pieces) actually made it onto my page!

Now it’s your turn! We’d love to see what pretties you cook up using the prompt and your kits.

Cheers,
