August Technique Challenge

I recently polled the creative team about their favorite, go-to, tried and tested techniques. One technique in particular kept popping up again and again in their comments. I’ll give you a hint – it’s like a sweater over a cute button-up, crisp sheets under a comfy quilt, and the iconic haircut that Jennifer Aniston made famous. You guessed it – layers! The August technique challenge is to create a layout using the technique of layering. For your inspiration, I asked creative team member Valerie and our August guest designer, Jen Chesnick, to play along:

Valerie says, “I love layering. Layering my patterned papers and embellishments makes me super happy. I start with my foundation page and then stack more and more – like decorating a cake. This always gives my project nice 3-d dimension.”

This layout is just as yummy as a cake, in my opinion!

Jen Chesnick is also a big fan of layering:

Jen puts her Silhouette Cameo to work when she wants to create layers on her layouts. Do you see how there are two layers of patterned paper on the red cardstock background? Also, Jen used two layers of cardstock to create her title.

And the embellishments are layered in such a pretty way, too!

I’m inspired to dress my next layout in layers. How about you? Here’s how to join the challenge:

1. Create a layout that uses the technique of layering. We would love to see a Scrapbook Circle kit in action, but any materials will do.

2. Post your layout to your blog, our Facebook page, or an online gallery. Come back to this post and leave a direct link to your layout in the comments.

3. You have TWO WEEKS to play. Enter by Wednesday, September 3rd, 9 pm Pacific to be eligible to win a $15.00 credit to the Scrapbook Circle store!

Good luck and happy scrapping!
