Getting Inky with the Add On Take Note

I loved the summery, bright and fun June Scrapbook Circle kit Hello There. I just had to have the Add On Take Note too. There is an item in the add on that is so bold and fun, I think I used it in almost all my projects this month. The Heidi Swapp Color Magic Water Color Heart tags. Water color is such a fun, trendy look right now and these tags make it easy to achieve with minimal effort. You do not have to use water colors on them to achieve that look though. Check out this layout where I used the heart tag. The hearts are large and can be real show stoppers if you color them up.

rk sc set them freeTo color my tag I pulled together my supplies, which include the tags, some Tim Holtz Distress inks and a Tim Holtz blending tool. You could use any inks you have and a make up applicator too!

Start with the lightest color in the palette you choose and go around the shape softly covering the entire tag with a base color.

There can be some minor spots that aren’t completely filled in because next you are going to choose a medium color and go over the tag again. If you use a light hand and focus on the outside you will start to achieve a layered effect.

Check out that water color look and not a water color in sight!

The other techniques I employed in this layout were embossing the vellum.

And using the tiny glassine bag that house the wood veneer right on the layout.

Have you used the water color tags in your projects? How did you alter them?
