1 Design, 3 Cards

I will admit I struggle with card making but when I find a simple design I love, I tend to make a few cards with that same design.  It helps me make multiple cards quickly but because I use a variety of papers and embellishments, they all look different!

The design I worked with for these cards is just a one cluster of embellishments placed to the right side of the card!  Take a look where this idea got me!

If you find a card design you love, work with it!  Don’t worry about your cards looking the same, they will each have their own unique look!

Designer Take: Tessa’s Hearts

Have you played along with our current challenge yet? It’s simple – inspired by all the hearts found in May’s High Five kit, create a page that features hearts. One of my favorite patterned papers in the kit is by Pink Paislee – the one with the word hello repeated with colorful hearts. I just had to play along with the challenge and use this paper:

1200 with banner

My little guy just turned five and instead of cake, he wanted to make Oreo brownies. Our favorite phrase that afternoon was “Hello, Oreo!” The hello patterned paper was a perfect fit.

Not only does the paper (and the navy reverse side) sport hearts, but I also took it a step further with a die-cut heart background. I filled some of the open hearts with the A side, and the others with the B side. I also took a few of the negative hearts and popped them up on three solid hearts.

I don’t often make a page this busy with patterns, but the repeating shape of the heart makes it work for me.

I’d love to see how you play with hearts on a page! Join in on the challenge and I’ll come take a look. You can find all the details for entering on the original challenge post, here. Have a great day!

Pattern Play

My favorite thing about our High Five Kit is all the patterns!  Bold patterns can be intimidating but I want to show you that you can mix them together – it works!

SC Jay Peak

WOW!  Look at those stripes, stars, circle and triangles!  The colored patterns compliment the stripped background, allowing them to be the focus of the layout.

I even took my design a step further and put the middle papers on an angle.  It was so much fun to use all the bright embellishments in our High Five kit, they really made my layout pop!

One Item Wonder: Scrapbook Circle Exclusives

The exclusive items in each month’s kit never disappoint. From stamps to wood veneer, cut files to tags and journaling spots, the designs are always on trend, perfectly coordinated, and unique. I asked our guest designer, Stephanie Buice, as well as creative team member Jenni to share with us layouts featuring the exclusive goodies from the High Five kit.

StephBuice_You Me (1)I spy the exclusive Scrapbook Circle printable in action! Stephanie created a grid-like design with the cut-apart elements of the printable, adding words, brads, and the exclusive “you+me” stamp.

I love that Stephanie took advantage of how well the printable elements blend with the Basic Grey Highline elements from the kit.

Jenni used the Scrapbook Circle exclusive “you + me” stamp to create her title, too:

This stamp is such a versatile one! I know I’ll be using it for months to come!

Lifting You — Rebecca

Happy Memorial Day to our American subscribers and followers!

Today, creative team member Diana W. is sharing her lift of this layout from subscriber Rebecca. Rebecca shared her layout with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

I love the sideways title, the row of buttons and the addition of the mixed media to the background. What a fun page!

Here is what Diana W. made to lift Rebecca.

Diana W. was inspired to paint the background with mist after seeing Rebecca’s page. It helped her to tone down the bright green and get closer to the color of her daughter’s uniform that is in the pictures.

For Diana W.’s page, I love how she used stars where the buttons were and the same center focus for her photos but added twice as many.

Love the inspiration ladies!

Designer’s Choice | dream BIG

Happy Saturday everyone!  I am very excited to share this layout using the ‘High Five’ May kit and a bit of the ‘My Fave’ Add-on today.  This has been one of my favorite color combinations lately, navy & pinks, and it made putting this page together super fast!  This is a photo from my daughter’s voice recital last month and her dress was black with tiny white hearts.  It actually looks navy in this photo making this Pink Paislee Navy background paper absolutely perfect.

DREAM BIG_SBC_May 2014 Final

Obviously, this star paper from Bella Blvd, is the ideal accent paper to use for a rising star! 😉  All the little acetate and cardstock die cuts that are part of the Heidi Swapp ephemera pack are excellent and easy to layer.  There are lots of ticket shapes in the set as well, which might be a little serentipitous!

DREAM BIG_SBC_May 2014 (6)

I have always loved vellum for its layering qualities, still allowing for those layers to be seen underneath…these acetate shapes are just as perfect!  I made a little baggie for sequins and mini punched stars out of the glassine bag used for some pieces in the kit.  I also layered a few of the puffy Amy Tangerine stickers that match that hot pink like it was made to be! The little puffy globe also works well with the dream BIG title!

There is a beautiful piece of darker pink POW! paper from American Crafts in the kit that I cut as a banner and punched those stars out of to help layer the acetate onto.  Even though this layout includes more than four manufacturers, the colors and patterns work so well together!  Next time you need some color palette inspiration, try a little navy, pink and white!  And check out how the rest of the DT used their kits with these products! Share your creations on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page to inspire all of us!

Thanks for stopping in today and wishing you and your families a safe, happy Memorial Day weekend!

Challenge #75: From the Heart

There is the big heart patterned paper by Heidi Swapp, and there’s the hello heart paper by Pink Paislee, as well as lots of other little hearts here and there. Inspired by this timeless icon, our next challenge is to incorporate hearts into the design of a layout. I asked creative team member Audrey to share her take on the challenge to get us started:

hi darling sweet girl SBC

Audrey freehand-cut hearts from several patterned papers in the kit, then machine-stitched across the center of each one.

So pretty! Thanks for the inspiration, Audrey!
