DT Choice | Using Negative Space In A Photo

Hello SBC fans!  I’m here today to share a layout I created using April’s fabulous kit, Bucket List and the Places To Go Add-on.  I had a photo with a lot of negative space in between the subjects (my daughter and one of her good friends swinging at the park).  I knew right away that I wanted to fill that space with lots of layered embellishments and tags, so I sized my photo a bit larger than I normally do (4×6) and made my base page 8.5 x 11 so that I would have plenty of room to embellish and make it the focal point of my page.

I picked out some of my favorite tags, labels, die-cuts, and embellishments from this month’s kits and layered them vertically down the center of my photo.

I used Pop Dots on some of the die-cuts and ephemera to give them more of a three-dimensional look on my layout.

I continued the vertical design down my page and placed my title underneath my photo near the bottom of my layout.

And of course I realized I placed the “N” upside down after I stitched the title down to my page…oops!

I hope I’ve inspired you to look at the negative space on a photo a little differently.  You could add an arrangement of embellishments, a title, or even journaling directly to a favorite photograph that has some extra space…even if it’s right in the center like mine.

Thanks for stopping by today and be sure and grab this month’s kit before they’re all gone!
