One Item Wonder: Scrapbook Circle Exclusive Stamp

I have a new favorite among my growing collection of exclusive Scrapbook Circle stamps – the love this arrow stamp included in Bucket List. I asked creative team member Melissa to share with us how she used it on a layout. Check this out:

Hello Border

Melissa’s layout design is a loose grid, filled with squares and rectangles. The square design of the stamp fits right in. Such a cute page!

Have you played with this stamp yet? We would love to see! Be sure to upload your projects to our Facebook page so we can come take a peek. Have a great day!

Lifting You — Victoria

Today Creative Team Member Rebecca is lifting subscriber Victoria. Victoria shared this great layout with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

When I saw her page, I loved the off-center photo with the large sweeping circles in the background. The fun droplets of mist add an artsy feel and the pop of yellow from her shirt in the photo make this layout eye catching. And, you can’t help but smile when you look at it. Am I right?! Radiant!

Here is Rebecca’s lifted page.

Rebeccca lifted the selfie theme, photo placement, layers, tags and paper clips.

I love the tags sticking out of the top and the fun wood veneer triangles sprinkled along the left side of the page.

Great inspiration from both Victoria and Rebecca. Thanks ladies!

If you would like to be considered for our next Lifting You feature, share your work using Scrapbook Circle kits on our Facebook page.

journaling. a design team choice

Journaling on my page is really important, I’ve written about this before, I have done hidden journaling, I have done journaling on the back, I have done journaling on the actual page.  But I haven’t really ever done journaling on a picture directly:

I know this isn’t necessarily a new concept but I just have never been brave enough to try it!  So here are a couple of tips for you if you are like me and TOO nervous to try it.  Look for a picture that has some “white” or “open” space.  Notice that on the right hand side it’s just open (it’s actually grass but you can’t tell because this picture is black and white)  I then took a ultra fine tip black sharpie and began I’m not one of those who writes out what I’m going to say before writing it–I just GO for it!  I really ENJOYED this process and will do it again!

We would love to see any of your creations using a Scrapbook Circle kit please feel free to share them on our Facebook Page!

April Sketch Challenge — players and a winner

Thank you to all of you that played along with this month’s sketch challenge. Not only did we have a studio file download for you as a bonus, we also had a great prize from Fancy Pants up for grabs — the As You Wish collection.

DT member Rebecca made one more layout from the team to get you inspired to create.

rk sc round and round

Here are the layouts that you all submitted for the challenge. And wow… these are inspiring and chock full of great ideas. More than once I looked at these and thought to myself, “I wish I’d thought of that!”

Designer Take: A pinch of this, a dash of that…

Our current challenge is a recipe for your next layout:

1 large photo

3 patterned papers

a pinch of wood veneer

a dash of die-cuts

I used the recipe to create this layout about our recent Spring Break day trip to Sacramento:

layout for blog

My son is studying California history this year, and visiting Sutter’s Fort was a great way to spend time as a family and bring some of his studies to life. I took this photo at the entrance. I loved the white space the long wall of the fort offered and knew it would be a great option to satisfy the “one large photo” ingredient of the challenge recipe.

I used the “True North” card as my title, then pulled the coordinating compass die-cuts from the kit. A couple other tags and die-cuts complete the “dash of die-cuts” requirement. I loved the little triangle wood veneers in the kit. I used almost all of them to form a path across my photo. My “pinch of wood veneer” may have been more like two or three pinches, but I thought it added to the theme of my layout nicely.

And lastly, I used three patterned papers, one of which being the striped blue and white at the bottom that just happens to match perfectly the striped shirt my oldest is wearing in the photo. I love it when that happens! So, there you have it. My take on the recipe. I can’t wait to see yours! You can find all the details for playing along in this post. You have two more weeks to join in, and don’t forget – there’s an amazing Crate Paper prize package to be won! Good luck and happy scrapping!

DT Choice | All Stars

Hello SBC fans!  I’m here today sharing an 8.5×11 layout that I created using this month’s amazing kit, Bucket List and the Places To Go Add-on.

I was really inspired by all of the fun bits in the Elle’s Studio Everyday Moments Bits & Pieces pack that’s available in the Places To Go Add-on and used them to layer around the photo of me and my best friend showing off our Converse All-Star kicks that we both happened to have on at the same time when we were at the park a few weeks ago.

I kept my overall color scheme neutral and added a few pops of color using some of the Elle’s Studio Everyday Moments Bits & Pieces.

Instead of using the photo frames to frame my photo, I placed them underneath so I could add some stamping and extra dimension to my page.

This page came together in a snap thanks to this month’s awesome kits.  Be sure and pick yours up today in the shop!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

One Item Wonder: Now and Then Patterned Paper

The Bucket List kit features a patterned paper by My Mind’s Eye covered in ornate frames and polka dots. I don’t know about you, but I see a paper like this and think, “It’s fabulous, but do I fill all those frames? Add photos, words? Cut them out?” To take some creative pressure off, I asked creative team member Leslie to share with us her ideas for making the most of this pretty paper:

Leslie made good use of her scissors and fussy cut several of the frames from the paper.

Leslie filled the frames with a variety of stickers, chipboard embellishments, and journaling.

I love how her design flows from the top right corner to the photo by drawing your eye down through the frames. I also love how some elements are popped up on dimensional adhesive so the design isn’t flat.

I’m inspired to cut up my piece of that paper! How about you? Or do you have another take on this pattern? I’d love to see it! Please share on our Facebook page. Have a great day!

My True North

hello everyone!

stopping by today to share a layout I made using the gorgeous April kit: Bucket List
plus both of the add ons: Places To Go & Things To See

I love, love LOVE the colors in this month’s kit.
Turqouise, navy, creams, brights, bolds, blacks…yum!

For my creation, I decided to stay with the blue tones, adding some yellow, gold, black & green for some pops of colors.

As you see in some of my closer shots, I used the roller stamp in 3’s in 3 different places. I LOVE that stamp. The ease of it, wow.
All in all – this was fun & made my photo of my cute husband pop off my page!

thanks so much,
