Designer Take: Tessa’s Happy Day

Our current challenge is inspired by the exclusive stamp in the Portobello Road kit that reads, “Today is a HAPPY day.” How is your entry coming along? If you need a little more inspiration, or some tips for using that stamp, I hope I can help today.

First of all, yay for a little girl to scrapbook! Any day I get to be creative with photos of my new Adlyn is a happy day!

The journaling talks about how I couldn’t resist buying a cute pair of kiddie sunglasses, even though they were still too big for her, and posing her with them while playing at the park one day. It was a gorgeous day, and hanging out with my little girl while the big boys played was really a happy day.

I just had to use the stamp from March’s kit, but the format wasn’t quite working for my design. My solution? Scissors!

stamp technique

One of my favorite things to do with clear phrase stamps is to cut the stamp apart to recreate the flow of words to suit my project. Be careful, and use sharp scissors.

I also used the small string of diamonds from the stamp to fill in spaces between my patterned paper chevrons. I love adding custom touches like that to my layouts.

Have you shared your happy day layout with us yet? A $15.00 credit to the shop could be yours, just for playing along. Find all the details here. Thanks for stopping by today!
