Lunch Date!

I love using neutral colored patterned papers for my backgrounds, and I was so happy to see this one by Chickaniddy crafts with a geometric print.  I wanted to add some subtle triangles to the page, but I still wanted them to stand out a bit.  And I had an AH HA moment!  I also had the 6×6 paper pad from Chickaniddy, and the prints are the same patterns except on a smaller scale.

So I hand cut out a bunch of triangles from the smaller print, roughed up the edges, and added them to the page!  Behind my photo, I used some scraps of papers, and some of the cut outs from the February printable.

And how perfect was this utensil sticker from the Chickaniddy sticker sheet for a meal themed page?!

So if you have a 6×6 paper and 12×12 with the same pattern but different sized prints, try layering them up in interesting ways!

PS:  Here is a fun little tidbit:  I never look at the other DT members galleries until I am done creating my page.  How funny is it that Lisa Andrews and I created a page with the SAME TITLE, using the SAME background paper, the SAME piece of flair, and the SAME cut-out piece from the printable?!  Great minds!!!!  🙂  See her page HERE.

How handy is it to take photos on our phone!?!?  It’s so nice to be able to capture something anytime without wishing you had brought your camera.  To make it even better we can share our photos instantly with friends and family – no more waiting for film to develop!   This layout with our Hello Today kit features two special Instagram photos of mine!

SC InstaLove 2_550

My photos captured two of my recent ‘OMG, thats me’ moments.  The left photo is a snapshot of me on the Pink Paislee team (I am still pinching myself!) and the right is my card was the Featured Project at Two Peas (Eeek!) The ‘Instalove’ card was perfect for this layout!!!

SC InstaLove 3_550

I used the ‘Instalove’ card to carry my colors through out the layout.  Our Hello Today kit has so many great aqua and navy papers and embellishments in it, plus a pinch of gold!

Don’t forget to take time to capture life’s little moments that are special to you!

One Item Wonder | Maya Road DIY Stickers – Arrows

Hi there!  Jenni here sharing today’s One Item Wonder from the ‘Hello Today’ February kit , the Maya Road DIY Arrow Stickers!

seven_SBC_Feb 2014 title

I knew I wanted to use these photos from my son’s birthday and the bright candles helped me select the papers from the kit.  After looking at the papers and arrows together, I noticed this diamond patterned in the Scrapbook Circle printable.  The angles of the arrows and the printable were the inspiration behind the pattern I used.

Instead of using the arrows to actually point at something, I made them a big part of the pattern.  I decided to sew all the pieces down to add texture and to highlight each of the kraft arrows, I layered a piece of October Afternoon flair on top!  I did use one of the arrows to point to the age of my son on the strip of this piece of Elle’s Studio paper.

Thanks for letting me share how I used today’s OIW to help me to think outside of the box…or the arrow!  Check out the Scrapbook Circle Blog to see the other One Item Wonders from this month.  We want to see your work too, so share your pages with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page!

Lifting You — Wendi

Hi! Today we are sharing a lifted layout from one of our subscribers. Wendi shared this fun layout with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

I love how she distressed the edges of her paper, added stitching and mixed the pink with the teal for her color scheme.  The triangles are a fun added touch to her misted background.

Wendi was lifted by creative team member, Diana W.

Diana W. was spot on with this lift. She included the triangle and the mist in her background, she kept the same single-photo focus for her page, and she even added the enamel dots (hearts in this case) to her page as well.

Both pages are so sweet! Thanks for the inspiration, ladies!

If you would like to be considered for our Lifting You feature, share your work using Scrapbook Circle kits on our Facebook page.

Designer’s Choice | in the BLINK of an eye

Hi Everyone!  Today I wanted to share one of my favorite topics for a scrapbook page using the lovely mint & navy elements in the ‘Hello Today’ kit.

int the blink_SBC_Feb 2014 title

‘Then & Now’ themed pages has always been a favorite way to document just how incredibly time is flying past me!  I seem to do more pages like this around my children’s birthdays and other major moments.  Not simply to record a specific event, but to remind myself to enjoy this moment just a little more.

This bokeh print paper from October Afternoon was an immediate favorite for the color and pattern, but also for the title…Focus.  I thought it was perfect for this page highlighting 2 photos of my husband and son sleeping together.

I used various stickers, tags and pieces of the papers cut apart as a collage mat under each photo with the title in the center connecting the two.   The adorable little wood hearts included in the kit inspired me to die cut more hearts and scatter them around the page.

Thanks for stopping by the blog and letting me share my sappy thoughts behind scrapbooking!  Be sure to share you pages and thoughts, sappy or not, with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page!

OIW…February Printable….

I wanted to share with you today just a simple way that I used some items from the February Printable in the “Hello Today” kit for my One Item Wonder.

selfies kyler SBC

I layered lots of bits of papers and little pieces from different items in the kit.  The printable included the little heart pennant on the bottom left square, and the star one on the top right.  They added the perfect  little touches to the edges of my photos.

On the other squares, I combined some hand cut pennants, the camera clip, a sticker, and a bit of stitching to add a lot of dimension to the squares.

I love using the printables to add some special touches to my pages that you won’t get in any other kit!

How are you using yours?
