Take 2 recreating by Kimberly Garofolo

Hello to all our FAVORITE peeps! I hope you all are having a wonderful day today! 🙂

My Challenge this month was to create a layout, re-creating a layout from a past SC layout. Since I’m still a newbe to the team, I was able to find a layout from another member’s past boards. I found what I wanted to re-create from Jennie’s gallery, I loved how she layered the strips of paper over the photograph. Simple, and also eye catching. I also LOVE working with enlarged photographs, and wrapping a story around it.

Jennie B's Inspiration

Jennie B’s Inspiration

Here is my take on on her inspiration…

I used my small circle punch for the star circles, mimicking her circles around her border. I also LOVE the foam arrow stickers. You can see that I had fun cutting them up too.

Thanks for stopping by today. It’s always so much fun sharing projects, and showing how we can be inspired and challenged to create something new from someone else’s fabulous creations. Thank you Jennie for your inspiration!

Have a wonderful and super blessed day!

Black, White & Blue All Over!

Hi, my name is Jenni, and I love wood grain!

The September Photo Goes Here kit includes this gorgeous piece of aqua blue wood grain paper from Echo Park.

In the South we take college football very seriously and since it is that time of year, I thought this photo would be perfect to scrap!  Even though our team colors aren’t black, white or blue, I thought they would provide an awesome contrast to all the orange!  I had to keep that wood grain paper in one piece and sewed strips of the black and white strips & stars down to anchor my photo.

I used my Silhouette to die cut my title out of the cork paper inlcuded in the kit.  I wanted the title to tie in the cork arrows from Fancy Pants.

I loved the transparent frames from Basic Grey that are part of the September Add-On kit, appropriately called Snapshot!  Since my photo was a landscape pic I just tucked it under like a photo mat and used it to make a little subtitle.   Whether you love wood grain or SEC football, we would love to see your creations on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page!  And check out how the other DT member used their cork and wood grain HERE…Have a great day!

Designer Choice

Good Morning!

This is Melissa here with you today and I am sharing one of my layouts I made using the September “Photo Goes here” kit and add on.

Pcola Beach Border

I really loved the Basic Grey Captured Transparencies from the “Snapshot” add on. I used one on each of my small photos in the above layout. I stitched them to each picture using my sewing machine. I layered these across the middle of my layout and then slipped other small embellishments around them and tucked some underneath to create some more layers. I then used the Jenni Bowlin gold speech bubble rub-on’s and transferred them to a white card stock. I cut them out and used foam dots to adhere to my layout. Some chipboard buttons and my title were added. I love how the picture transparencies added a little color to the layout but still allowed the photos to shine through!

I hope you have enjoyed your September kits! If you don’t subscribe, you can still pick one up from the store here!!

Thanks for stopping by the blog!

Designer Take: Melissa is Camera Happy

Our current challenge, Camera Happy, is to scrapbook a layout with a recent, favorite photo. I asked Melissa to play along, and this is her inspiring take:

Fav Guy Border

Melissa says, “I loved these photos of my husband that I took during a rare outing by ourselves to Pensacola Beach this summer. We so rarely get away by ourselves these days and the fun time we had together was evident on his face!” What a fabulous memory to make and record!

I just love the extra large triangles. What a great way to add pattern and shape without taking away from the photos. And the fussy cut camera – cute touch! Thanks for the inspiration, Melissa!

You still have time to play along with the challenge, and to possibly win an incredible prize package of American Crafts’ Thickers. Find all the details for entering here. Have a great day!

Polaroids are still super trendy and can be used in so many fun ways on layouts. I used them in several different ways on this layout:

rk sc good timesThe Basic Grey acetate Polaroid shape is perfect to mount over Instagram photos. Before I printed my photo I created a 4 photo collage. Then printed it in a 4×4″ size and layered the BasicGrey frame over it. I layered the other Polaroid shape (from Elle’s Studio) over a piece of white cardstock. I added a Fancy Pants sticker and chipboard star as well as a Jenni Bowlin rub on and some journaling at the bottom of the frame

rk good times cu1How are you using Polaroids on your layouts or cards?

One Item Wonder: Jenni Bowlin Speech Bubble Rub-Ons

We love the rub-ons by Jenni Bowlin in September’s kit, Photo Goes Here. They are so easy to use and are a great accent for your pages. I asked creative team member Jenni to share with us how she put them to use on a recent layout, and this is the fantastic result:

FOCUSED_SBC_Sept 2013 Title

Jenni arranged the speech bubbles in a circle shape around her focal point. I love how each one directs your attention right back to the photo. Such a cool design!

And the metallic sheen of these rub-ons is a great touch!

Have you played with the rub-ons yet? We would love to see! Be sure to upload your layouts and projects to our Facebook page and we’ll come take a peek. Have a great day!

Instagram filters

Good day to you scrapbookers!

How many of you are on instagram? I love it! Every time I upload a photo to post, I have to scroll through all of the filters (sometimes more than once) before I decide on which one looks best to highlight what I want to highlight in the photo.

As I was printing this photo for this layout, I help up the paper from the kit behind my phone and scrolled though the different filters to see which one looked best with the paper! Earlybird was the filter of choice for this one! Slightly old-school, with muted colors that were perfect with this paper.

Just another silly suggestion for getting your photos to pop with the paper! Technology rules! Happy scrapping.jbmy2frontteeth

Yellow + Gray = the new Black.

hi everyone!
Did you know that yellow + gray = the new black?
No really!
It’s Leslie back today with a layout that’s near and dear to my heart.
and it’s made with the September kit: Photo Goes Here – using the yellows  (& golds)/grays/blacks from the kit to make my photo POP off my page.

I love using these colors together. My photo is somewhat muted in color so I thought by making my layout
in these neutral tones, it would jump right out at you – mission accomplished!

and by adding like toned embellishments – it compliments and makes my layout complete.

This photo of my kids cracks me UP! My husband is holding the frame (that’s his hands you see) & I was intentionally capturing that
image to make this memory even more fun – by being comical & showing some “behind the scenes with an iPhone” shot.
I thought it was so funny, I even left off a “T” in my title on purpose. (I know..that’s only funny to me. LOL!)

Here’s a closer shot of the details:
Those gold Jenni Bowlin rub ons are DELIGHTFUL and rub on like butter.

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my post today. I hope you were inspired to try a yellow + grey = the new black
layout for yourself. Show us on our FB page when you do! I’d love to see!

Today my focus is on being real.  I have a beautiful niece who’s name is Lily–EVERY TIME I see that girl she has a GREAT big smile on her face, a few years ago she volunteered to be my model.  (great practice for me–and FUN pictures of her!)  I just wanted to document this short moment I got to spend with my niece and keep it real:

I have to admit I LOVED the little cameras and arrows in the Photo Goes Here kit--focus’ on our impromptu photo shoot!

We would LOVE to see your pages on our Facebook page–please feel free to share!
