Designer Take: Daniela Donner’s Pop of Color

The current challenge (which ends in just a couple days!) is all about using the neutrals from the Let’s Chat kit, then making your layout pop with a bit of color. Daniela took on the challenge and created this fantastic page:

Happy day_SBC_Daniela Dobson

The pops of yellow and blue show off her photo perfectly. And I love how the splatters of yellow and blue carry across the page. Thanks for the inspiration, Daniela!

If you’d like to play along, you can find all of the details here. The randomly chosen winner will receive an add-on from the shop! Good luck and happy scrapping!

Celebrate 50 Years

My in-laws celebrated their 50th anniversary last year and to celebrate, we had an immediate family reunion for our family. My husband’s sister and brother live around the country so we don’t get together too often. I created this two-page layout with the “Let’s Chat” kit highlighting our reunion and journaled about our time together.

Here is a close-up of the title. Love those glitter Thickers that I used for the “50”!

I will frequently stitch through alphabet stickers/sub-titles, etc. so help anchor them to the page.

This was my last layout for Scrapbook Circle! I have really enjoyed working with the kits each month and it’s been a great challenge for me to create a two-page layout each month as well. Thank you, Lisa for the opportunity! 🙂

Family page and a good-bye

Hi, everyone! Dani Donner here for the last time… It’s with mixed feelings that I say good-bye to Scrapbook Circle, my fellow DT members and all of you. It’s been one amazing year, opening my pizza box every month was so exciting! Seeing all the amazing goodies inside was always so inspiring. And looking at my final pages and cards gratifying…

So I couldn’t say good-bye without a page that expressed how I felt all those through all those months: like a family.

This is my family, my husband and my two boys. We support each other and make each other laugh and cry, we go through thick and thin together. That’s how I feel about the Scrapbook Circle community and DT, like a family, supporting and inspiring each other to try something new and exciting.

I know it’s time to say good-bye, but I’ll always carry all of you in my heart. Lisa is an amazing person, and this is more than a club kit, it’s inspiration and support delivered to us…

Thanks again for being part of this journey. It surely has been fun!

Polaroid

07 28

Do you ever miss old Polaroids? I love the instant framing of old Polaroids. I have a Fuji Instx camera that takes credit card sized Polaroids, but it’s hard to get a good photograph indoors. That’s what I love about camera phones nowadays, you can get great photographs even indoors!

I combined this die cut paper with Instagram shots, I was able to make my own Polaroid! I wanted to use one of the frames that was in the middle of the paper, without cutting the rest of the paper. I used my Fiskars fingertip craft knife to carefully cut out the “Today” frame and used it for my picture. What makes this so easy to do is that the sheet is already perforated for easy cutting!

Have you used this sheet yet? I’d love to see how you used it!

Playing with stickers

Hi Daniela here with a layout from July kit – Let’s Chat.

Every day_SBC_Daniela DobsonI loved all the little stickers that came in this kit from Fancy Pants 4×6 Label Stickers and Scrapbook Circle Exclusive Stickers. I added them all around the photo creating a visual triangle. In addition I added the arrow stickers all ponting back at the photo.

The rest of the layout is pretty simple. I cut down a piece of white cardstock that I sprayed with color mist using a template. I stitched the cardstock to another piece of patterned paper using my sewing machine.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you give this technique a try.

Make sure you share your projects on our Facebook page.

One Item Wonder: Pink Paislee Arrows

Jennie was happy to create a layout for us that features one of her favorite parts of the Let’s Chat kit – the Pink Paislee arrows!

These metallic arrows are especially fun because of their ability to take on color from mists, paints and markers. Jennie colored each of her arrows in a different hue to add some spunk to her page.

Have you played with these fun embellishments? We would love to see what you did with them! Be sure to post your layouts to our Facebook page and we will come take a peek. Have a great day!

Lifting You – Tanya

Hello! Today we are sharing Diana W.’s lift of subscriber Tanya’s page. She shared her work with us on Facebook — and are we glad she did! Such a fun and eye-catching page…

Tanya

We love Tanya’s layering with so many patterns and colors going on that they work so well together and create amazing things to see on this page. I love the camera, the #3 on the photo and the die cut pattern in the background.

Tanya was lifted by Diana W. with this page.

DianaW

Her layout really shows off the blues and yellows in this kit. She really liked the placement of the pictures in the lifted page the corners touching, and it made her eye focus on that. She went a bit further by cutting the lined die cut to draw the eyes again toward the pictures.

Diana didn’t have any doilies so she went ahead and punched some flowers which had their centers punched out PERFECT for the stickers included in the kit — they each coincidentally had doilies on them!

Gorgeous work from both Tanya and Diana W. Thanks for sharing your work with us!

If you would like to be considered for our Lifting You feature, share your work using Scrapbook Circle kits on our Facebook page!

Maximize Your Patterned Paper

Do you ever say, “I am going to need to buy 2 pieces of that paper because both sides are fabulous!” I do. All the time. But what if you really only have one sheet?  How do you best maximize that one piece of paper? I usually start by finding which side I want to focus on. Here it was the sunburst side that I really wanted to use more. So I cut a slightly larger than 6 inch piece of that side.

rk sc best friendsAfter adhering that half onto cardstock, I flipped over my remaining piece of the patterned paper and started fussy cutting out the speech bubbles. I felt like a needed something in between the sunburst pattern and cardstock so I cut the edge off the Elle’s Studio paper and it made a nice trim!  Then I layered the speech bubbles, stickers and Pink Paislee arrow. Finally I made the title by mixing the Thickers and Jillibean word sticker and adding some Jenni Bowlin rubons (anyone else LOVE those? They are like BUTTER)!

rk best friends cu1And voila! I got to use both sides of that awesome piece of patterned paper!
