Designer Take: Jennifer is Thankful

Have you had a chance to play along with our current challenge? Just create a layout inspired by the following quote, and you could win a $10.00 shop credit: “It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy.”

Jennifer took on the challenge and her layout is full of inspiration for you:

Jennifer used part of the quote as journaling, and pulled key words for her title and subtitle. Look at these great layered details:

Thanks for the inspiration, Jennifer! If you would like to play along, you still have one week. You can find the details here. Thanks for stopping by today!

Mixing Alphas

Alphas, letter stickers, phrase stickers, phrase labels… you get the point. Words whether plentiful or few can add so much to a layout. Besides the photos, the title may be my favorite part of any page I look at (mine or others’). One of my favorite techniques is to mix and match alphas and/or words from different items in the kits. This can help use up a much loved alpha that may not have enough letters to complete your title as well. The printable from November’s kit was the starting point to my title and the mini alpha stickers finished it off for this page!

One Item Wonder: Wooden Tags

Holly has been playing with the wooden tags in November’s kit and her projects definitely get a stamp of approval! Let’s take a look.

First up, Holly stamped repeatedly on the wooden tag embellishing this layout. I love that the stamped image is so clear, even though the words are small.

Holly also stamped on the wooden tag embellishing this card, but went one step further with clear embossing. I love the look and I bet it’s even better in person when you can run your fingers over it.

How did you use the wooden tags in this month’s kit? Did you stamp? Add stickers? We would love to see! Be sure to upload your layouts to our Facebook page and we will come take a peek. Have a great day!

Lifting You – Orange Gearle

Today I am sharing with you Daniela’s lift of subscriber Orange Gearle’s layout. She shared her page with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

I love how she used the strips, layered in the title and then also the wonderful collage of pictures. The ruffle at the bottom is darling!

Here is the layout Daniela made. She was inspired by the ruffle bottom and the strips of tape. Daniela used sewing pattern to make her ruffle and strips of patterned paper.

I love the layers on her page, as well as the stitching. Gorgeous work from both ladies!

Would you like to be considered for the Lifting You feature here at Scrapbook Circle? Just upload your work using Scrapbook Circle kits to the Facebook page and you could be our next lift!

Picking Colors

I love color photos! Of course black and white prints are classic and beautiful too, but when your kids have big blue eyes, you really have to print mainly in color 😉 The problem becomes how to pick coordinating papers and embellishments especially when you did not coordinate everyone’s dress. I notice I usually feel like I match the products inadvertantly, but I think on a subconcsious level I am actually picking 2-3 colors that show up as main proponents of the photos. Then sometimes I find a contrast color as a pop of color for interest.

From these photos I chose brown, aqua from my daughter’s dress (and coincidentally my son’s shorts) and orange from the pumpkins. I ignored the gray from the guys’ shirts and other random colors that are not as noticeable. The bits of red are used as contrast. The triangle of aqua draws the eye to the photos and the pops of red add a fun pop. How do you choose colors?

🙂 Rebecca

teeny hey!

there are some WONDERFUL teeny alphas included in this month’s kit, they were small so I didn’t want you to over look them! 😉  They are great for subtitles or even journaling–I happened to use them on a card for the greeting:

simple and easy!

we would LOVE to see your ideas and creations on our Facebook page–please feel free to share–THANKS!

Designer Take: Jennie Doodles Thanks

Thanksgiving napkin rings

Good morning!

Happy day before Thanksgiving! I bet everyone is running around like crazy trying to get ready for the big day. One of our assignments was to make the napkin rings for dinner. So, I used the leftover paper from the November kit! I used my cameo and cut up letters and leaves and voila! Napkin rings! Here are a few pics!
