One Item Wonder: Happening Now Add-On

The kit add-ons are irresistible, aren’t they?! Especially the Happening Now add-on that complements the News Flash kit. I challenged two of our designers to whip up something with Happening Now and you will love the results. First up, Allison Waken:

Allison fell in love with the vellum banners by Crate Paper. She wasn’t sure how to use them at first, but they quickly became her favorite embellishment and she had to stop herself from adding them to everything!

Amy Coose, our October guest designer, also played with the vellum banners:

I love the blocks of patterned paper, right from the 5th and Frolic paper pad. And isn’t that tag perfect? Love those!

Did you pick up an add-on this month? What did you do with it? We would love to see! Be sure to post your projects on our Facebook page and we will come take a peek. Have a great day!

Printing on Vellum

Hi everyone! Dani Donner here today to show you a cool trick you can do with your Scrapbook Circle printables. The coolest thing about a printable is that you can choose what medium you want to print it (and, of course, the option of printing as many copies as you want). So, for instance, you can print on Texturized Cardstock with a variety of colours: White, Grey, Vanilla, Krat, etc, or you can choose a different medium like a Transparency or Vellum.

This month I was so impressed with the vellum banners that I wanted to incorporate a little bit of it into my pages, so I set up my printer to the transparency mode (I tried the other settings, too much ink just don’t dry very well) and voilà! Your own vellum embellishment!!! I’ve used them a lot in my “Hello Handsome” layout below:

I love the soft, transparent effect of the vellum… AND, I found out you can mist it too! Check the banner…

So why don’t you try printing on vellum? But beware, it’s addictive… :)

Thanks for stopping by,

{a few layouts with the News Flash kit!}

Today I’m sharing my final two layouts with October’s News Flash kit! I had a few Instagrams from a little trip my husband and I took for our anniversary so I decided to use them all on this page.

I’ve been using my typewriter a lot more lately. I typed captions for each photo on kraft paper and trimmed them out.

I used Instagrams for this page too :) I wanted to capture how beautiful Fall is right now and how I’m really enjoying the trees out here at our new house. The Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic in the kit is perfect for a layout like this.

Thanks for stopping by today! We’d love to see your layouts with the October kit – share them with us on the Scrapbook Circle facebook page.

Word Art

October and November showed my Silhouette  quite the workout. I go through phases with my die-cut machine, it seems either I use it all the time, or forget it’s there. Today I wanted to share with you how to make the word art from my page, “Brothers” – which features my best friend’s adorable boys.

1.Start off with a new page in your Silhouette software.

2. Type the words you want to use, in a good block font. I used BEBAS.

3. Adjust the character spacing, until the letters are slightly overlapping.

4. Adjust the line spacing, until the words are slightly overlapping.

5. Center align the words.

6. Go to Object – Modify – Weld.

7. Ready to cut.

I added a print screen step by step as well, You can view it HERE.

Hope this helps you get creative with your die cutter.

Designer Take: Diana & the Color Palette

Challenge #40 is to use the color palette of the News Flash kit for a project.

Diana created two beautiful cards just bursting with the pretty colors!

I love the stitching and all of the luscious layers.

Who wouldn’t love to receive one of these beauties? Diana, my address is…just kidding!

Are you playing along with Challenge #40? You have a week left to join in and can find the details on entering here. Have a great day!

Border Stickers

Hi, Daniela here, sharing another layout I created using  our October kit – News Flash. One of the embellishments in the kit was Crate On Trend Border Stickers. There are eleven sticker borders on that sheet.

Border stickers are a quick and easy way to dress up a page. Can you spot them all on my layout? I used them like strips of patterned paper, clustered in the middle of my layout. I varied the length and the orientation of the border stickers to add visual interest.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Make sure you share your projects on our Facebook page.

One Item Wonder: Pink Paislee Ephemera

I love adding bits and pieces of ephemera to my layouts, and the Pink Paislee ephemera in the October kit is a great source for those little extras. Jennie and Holly put this pack to fabulous use. Let’s take a look!

Jennie’s layout is embellished with several pieces of ephemera. They act as subtitles and journaling – what a fun way to add the story to the page!

Jennie also created this set of tags. What a fun and simple way to use up those last bits for something small but special!

Holly also created a layout. I love how the arrows point to the hearts. And again, this ephemera makes great titles and subtitles!

How have you used the Pink Paislee ephemera pack? We would love to see! Be sure to upload your projects to our Facebook page. Have a great day!

Lifting You – Wendy

Today we are sharing Ursula’s lift of subscriber Wendy’s layout. Wendy shared her page with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

We love the misting that she used and the layers with all of those rich patterns and colors. Those little hexagons are so fun and love the picture!

Here is the layout that Ursula made. She liked the way Wendy had several layers under her focal point and borrowed that idea as well as the addition of the hexagons flowing from under the focal point. She chose to extend those through to the other side of the focal point as well.  Admitting to not being very good with circles, Ursuala omitted them for the most part but echoed the idea using the printable ‘today’ circle to add the date.

Gorgeous layouts from both ladies! Would you like to be considered for our Lifting You feature? Share your work using Scrapbook Circle kits on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

DEAR LIZZY 5th & Frolic stickers.

Isn’t Frolic a funny word?  As a verb it means: Play and move about cheerfully, excitedly, or energetically.  As a noun: A playful action or movement.  I think both of these definitions fit me PERFECTLY as I worked with these fun stickers:

I liked these stickers SO much that I used them on over half of my projects in the gallery this month!  They are totally fun and unique, I don’t know that I have a favorite.  I do wanted to share just one of my projects that highlight quite a few of the stickers:

Can you see the stickers?  Let me point them out to you.  The title, the feathers, the house, the borders strip, the arrow and the gold seal.  So you can see they can be used as accents and as titles–FUN!

We would LOVE to see your projects that you have made with this kit–please feel free to share them on our Facebook page!

Simplicity

I don’t know about you but I sometimes get carried away with trying new things, loading up a page with all kinds of things I love, using up every last piece of paper etc. Don’t get me wrong that’s the fun part about this hobby, but I found when doing this layout that sometimes I was getting a bit carried away and had to scale back a bit. A simple, graphic layout can sometimes help clear the slate when you’re in a creative slump.

and I’m not usually a gold person, but I could not get enough of the Gold Dear Lizzy stickers! They just popped and worked perfectly with the color palette of News Flash!
