The Ombre Effect

If we take a look at all the new trends out there I guess the “Ombre” is my favorite (OK, it is a tie between Ombre and Chevron, I’ll admit). I have been dying to try it out so when I saw the AC fabric alpha on August’s add-on it hit me: that’s my chance!

That means I had to take a totally different approach to this page, I started with my title and my picture! Then I built the rest of the page around them. Another odd thing is that it is a double page! I don’t usually do double pages, but I have to admit, I’ve got carried away playing with my water colors… 🙂

Basically what I do is add a drop of paint in the base of the letter (or the cardstock, the pink “feathers” were also painted with watercolors), dip my brush into water and carry the color to the top, letting it fade on it’s way. Simple and lovely.

So now roll up your sleeves and get messy with your watercolors! And don’t forget to share your work with us on Facebook.

Thanks for stopping by!

  • What a great idea! I haven’t tried Ombre yet because I am having a hard time with getting it to look neat using misting- this is a fantastic way to incorporate it into your page without making a huge mess- wonderful design as well. LOVING the stamp used in this page!
