Challenge #29: Neon
Please note: This challenge has been extended! The new deadline for entering is May 2nd.
Being a child of the 80’s, I have a sentimental fondness for neon. The trend is back full force, influencing everything from fashion to scrapbooking. The neon colors of Heidi Swapp’s new line and Amy Tangerine’s latest collection really brighten up the April kit, Daydreamer, don’t they? These highlighter hues are also our inspiration for the next challenge.
My little niece just celebrated her 1st birthday, and her party theme was rainbow. The red was swapped out for hot pink, which means her party photos match this kit perfectly!
I normally would do neon in small doses, but this is a first birthday page! The special occasion calls for full strength day-glo! I used the Ivory Impression patterned paper for my background and added strips of other papers and washi tape before adding my Instaframe-d photos.
I used watercolors to color those amazing Heidi Swapp alphas – so fun, especially in neon green!
The page was definitely too busy for journaling, so I made one of the Instaframes into a folder for hidden journaling:
Speckled with mist and sequins, this page definitely captures the spirit of my niece’s party. And even though I might need sunglasses to look it over, it makes me happy.
Ready to play along? Here’s how:
1. Create a layout that includes neon colors. We would love to see a Scrapbook Circle kit in action, but any materials will do.
2. Post your layout to your blog, a gallery, or our Facebook page. Come back to this post and leave a comment with the direct link to your posted project.
3. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, May 2nd, 9:00 pm Pacific.
You could win a $10.00 Scrapbook Circle credit! Happy scrapping!
