Challenge #27: Stencils
Inspired by the Jenni Bowlin stencil paper in the Best.Day.Ever. kit, our next challenge is to use a stencil for a layout. You could add the Jenni Bowlin paper to a page as is, use it as a mask for misting, or cut it apart. Both Rebecca and Jennie shared fabulous ideas just like these on Tuesday. Or, you could use a different stencil to create a design on your page. You could use a purchased stencil, or you could make your own with paper punches. The possibilities are endless! Here’s my take using the March kit:
I knew I wanted my stencil to have a peek-a-boo effect, so I designated several letters to use as windows. I traced the letters I wanted to use onto my background page, then filled them in with glitter. Next, I backed various letters with patterned paper. Last, I traced a few more letters onto my background paper and added buttons and sequins. To lift the stencil off of my background, I simply added foam tape to the back of the stencil and adhered it to my layout. I love the texture it added.
To finish my page, I treated the stencil as if it were white space and created a little photo/embellishment cluster in the corner.
I’m excited to see what you will do with stencils! If you’d like to play along, here’s how:
1. Create a layout inspired by the challenge. We would love to see a Scrapbook Circle kit in action, but any materials will do.
2. Post your layout to your blog, a gallery, or our Facebook page. Come back to this post and leave a comment with the direct link to your posted project.
3. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 21st, 9:00 pm Pacific.
You could win a $10.00 Scrapbook Circle credit! Happy scrapping!
