One Item Wonder: Be Mine Paper

Before we say goodbye to January and move on to a new month (and new kit!), let’s take a look at one of my favorite papers from You + Me. Seriously, how cute is the Be Mine paper by Fancy Pants? You know, the one with all the little tags?

Melissa put it to use in such a creative way:

I love how Melissa cut apart several of the tag images, notched the ends, and created a banner. It makes a great border for her photos and a fun place for subtitles.

I also love how Melissa used one of the fussy-cut tags to create a journaling spot for her date. So cute!

What did you do with the Be Mine paper? Did you think like Melissa, or go a route of your own? We would love to see! Just upload your layouts to the Facebook page and we will come check them out. We always get excited to see what you do with the kits :). Have a fabulous day!

Take two: Nicole

Have you ever made a page and thought to yourself – I like it! I want to make another like it… or I wish I could change it a little bit this way….?

Well, I had that exact feeling this past month. So, I decided to take another stab at a layout I had done using the December kit from Scrapbook Circle!!

Remember this page:

I decided to do another take of this page – this time, using  the January kit instead!  I wanted to make the page similar, but a little more masculine as my son was in the photo too this time! I also wanted to keep a little pink on my page too… just for fun 🙂 … here is what I came up with this time:

If you are in a time crunch … why not inspire yourself… take a dive into your stash of pages.. pick a fave or even one that is just bugging you to be redone!  Give it a try and share them with us on our facebook page!

One big photo!

I used to be a multi-photo layout scrapper for ages. Couldn’t do a layout without at least 3 or 4 small photos.

Then one day I shot a beautiful photo of my girl and thought it would be nice to scrap large photos!

When I decide that a photo is worth being printed in a large format, I enjoy scrapping it!

But with large photos, you need different designs, and you really need to think about balance!

On this layout made with January YOU+ME KIT I used the beautiful Fancy Pants heart paper to balance the design and space on my layout:

So, do try this out with your most cherished pictures and see if you enjoy the result!

And if you do, please post your creations on our facebook page !

Have a fabulous, creative day!

How could I not make a layout about my sweetheart with the fabulous January kit You + Me?

I kept this simple, so as to not appear sappy, which makes me vomit a little in my throat. I know, I know…. I scrapbook, therefore I’m sappy, right? Well, with the scrapbook circle kits, you can be stylish and sentimental without the accompanying sappiness. Not sure if I’m making up words here, but I do love my husband, and I rarely do layouts about us that don’t include our kids in some form or another. And, with us celebrating 13 years of marriage during January, well, I couldn’t let this fun photo pass by un-scrapbooked. (Okay, now I know I’m making up words). Even though I look like I’m on the prowl and he’s just annoyed, I guess that is exactly how we both feel sometimes, so why not capture it! 🙂 Happy January everyone. Look for fun updates as we head out early tomorrow for CHA!!!!!!

Oh, Hexagons, How I Love Thee!

Hexagons and hexagonal lattices (also known as honeycombs) are a huge trend in the scrapbooking industry right now. This month’s kit, You + Me, features hexagons on both the My Mind’s Eye embellishment sheet and paper from the Love Me line.

I love the look of hexagons chained together to make a border. They’re so orderly and organized, but the outline isn’t totally straight and adds a bit of interest. In my Love Is Pink & Fluffy layout I used bits of the hexagon border from the embellishment sheet to offset both the lacy outline of the doily border and the straight lines of my photo mats.

In my The Couch at Anthro layout, I used the larger pattern of the hexagon paper, cutting out chunks of the pattern along its outlines to bring a splash of color to the kraft chevron background.

Have you made anything special with the hexagon papers and embellishments in this month’s kit? Please post it on our Facebook page so we can see your beautiful work!

One Item Wonder: Twist Tie and Paper Clips

Included in the You + Me kit are some sweet little embellishments by Pebbles – a twist tie and some heart-shaped paper clips. Let’s take a look at how Penny used these elements to embellish a page.

Penny cleverly used the twist tie to create a scrolling banner. The wire inside the twist tie makes it really easy to bend the ends into shape, and the result is a dimensional banner. Love it! And I love how Penny added an epoxy sentiment to the twist tie. So cute!

Penny tucked the paper clips behind strips of patterned paper, anchoring that corner of her page and bringing attention to the above photo. Simple and sweet!

What have you done with your Pebbles embellies? We would love to see! Just upload your layouts to our Facebook page and we will come leave you some love. Enjoy your day!

Lifting You – Yoshimi Itou

Hello! Today we are looking at DT member Diana W.’s lift of this page that Yoshimi Itou shared on Facebook.

Isn’t her page lovely? Cute photos, and I love how everything is off center. The lower corner is perfect with the flowers like that.

Here is layout that Diana W. made.

Another great page! Diana W. was inspired by Yoshimi Itou’s border work and mist, as well as the strip of paper behind the photos. Love the photos, and I like the 3 stars to the right of the picture.

Great layouts, ladies! If you are interested in being lifted by the Design Team, share your creations on the Facebook page.

Making it Last

These is a lot of internet talk about stretching your kits, and why not? Many of us on a tighter budget than ever, so if you are going to spend money on something, you want it to be worth it right? Those of you who have visited my blog know that I am constantly talking about how many projects I can create from a single Scrapbook Circle kit. Each month it astounds me, but it is true that I easily create 5+ projects every month. Often I run out of time, but I usually have more kit left to continue creating. Not only that, but I add very LITTLE from my own stash. I am a cardstock user, so I occasionally add a few sheets of cardstock. I am also an alpha addict so I generally like to make layouts with more than the kit included alpha. But that is pretty much it. No need to add embellishments, definitely no need to add more patterned paper (you get tons!) and no need to add in little fun bits because those items are included as well. Let me just show you what I mean. For this month’s You + Me kit I added some alphas and cardstock and was able to create 6 layouts and one card:

So next month, when making your scrappy budget, pat yourself on the back for getting the Scrapbook Circle kit and know you are getting a kit worth every penny!
