I just love the colors in the Jenni Bowlin set, and I had some perfect photos to match!

And the Indie Girl collection is so different…I love the blues and the greens with just a touch of pink.

Not only is the September kit drool worthy, but the digital download is so much fun!! I had an “ah-ha” moment when I saw it and decided to print it out on transparency film instead of cardstock…now I have an entire sheet of clear elements to add to my pages!
I used several of the elements on this page, both cardstock and transparency:

I may or may not have been too impatient to let mine dry all the way, so just be warned that you may need to delay your gratification by a feeeeeewwwww minutes before you try to lay it down on your layout!! Have fun with it!

Hello! Today I want to share with you how I made this cork board altered frame that can be found in my September Ideas Gallery.

I used a frame that I’d scooped up on clearance at a craft store, and I also had some adhesive-backed cork on hand. After seeing the textures and colors in the Crate Restoration papers, I knew that it was time to doll-up that frame!

I measured, cut, and then adhered the cork material into the frame. I decorated one side of the frame with papers and some photos, leaving the other half cork-exposed for hanging little notes.

And there you go. Thanks for looking!

Today I want to talk about a few of things I did on this layout. 1st off I want to talk about the mist on this layout. Did you know that you can buy it as an add on under supplies AND it ships free with your kit?! Go HERE to see all the FANTASTIC colors. The chalkboard mist has better coverage than regular mist–don’t get me wrong I love all kinds of mist but the chalkboard is my NEW favorite. I happened to use banana pudding and charcoal for this layout. I sprayed the mist on the paper then I took the lid off of the mist and held it over my paper and tapped my hand to get drops.

Secondly, I wanted to talk about the circle. After my mist dried I took out a large bowl I then traced the circle. I then sewed over the line–on my sewing machine there is a centering line right on the foot– I just put the line right on it and sewed. After sewing the complete circle I then adjusted my needle to sew left of the circle–finishing that all the way I adjusted it to sew right. This whole time I kept the center line center on my foot and made the needle do all the work. I hadn’t done that before and really liked how it turned out.

Lastly I wanted to talk about my string (from my stash) I took a paper piercing tool and pierced the paper making it wide enough to run the string through twice. I actually tied the string to the paper! (So if you turn the paper over you see two lines of the string.)

If you want to see a closeup of this layout just click on the picture. The colors in this kit are SO tasty–I’m telling you Lisa knocked it out of the park with this one!

We all love shortcuts in scrapbooking, right? Well, one of my favorite techniques is sanding the edges of my photos. I used to do this ALL the time a year or two ago, and now, not as much. However, I still like the look it gives of giving a white-ish edge to my photos and making them stand out from each other. Well, when I was making this layout, I was a little pressed for time. I wanted the white edge look, but didn’t have time to sand the edges, or find a white paper and mat them all. So, I carefully laid them out with about 1/8 inch of a space on all sides. It’s not exactly the same, but it does the job in a fraction of the time! Here is a close up of what I did:

Here is the whole layout, to get the general idea:

Love those shortcuts! I’d love it if you shared some of your favorite shortcuts with the rest of us as well!

As my family wraps up summer, this weekend looks to be full of outdoor plans and little trips. I thought a super easy Weekend Warm-up was in order. So how about a little journaling prompt?

Over and over again the design team has expressed how HAPPY the September Kit is – the beautiful colors, the pretty patterns, the sweet embellishments…. It’s like happiness in a box! When you open that smile-inducing package, you’ll find a sheet of cardstock stickers by Cosmo Cricket. One sweet little label reads: “Happiness is when….”

So while you anticipate your September kit, give some thought to what happiness means to you. Your ideas could be page titles, journaling, bullet points in a list, or a simple sentiment to add to the Cosmo Cricket sticker, like I did here:

Have a wonderful, happy weekend!

I cannot believe how amazing the September kit is! It looked amazing in the photographs when it first went up on the site but believe me, it looks even BETTER in person!

Last night while I was on a long conference call I spent my time listening to the call and cutting out all of these pretty flowers from a piece of Crate Paper that came with the September kit. After an hour of cutting I had a handful of gorgeous embellishments to use to decorate my page!

I constructed a fairly simple design and just arranged all of my flowers around it. Ta da! These gorgeous paper flowers make the layout look MUCH more detailed.

Another tip: I’m sure many people have noticed this about me already but I often use multiples of the SAME photo on one page. Sometimes when I just want to scrap ONE photo that I don’t have a match to but I think the page would look better with two or more photos, I just print one photo twice. Don’t be afraid to do it! It will probably save you a lot of time stressing about how to fill your page or stressing about how to come up with a matching photo.

Holy cow can you believe this Sept. kit?! OK, I confess….I was one of the ones who was smelling papers, too!!!!

I wanted to share with you a quick likttle project that I did for my cousin who just transfered to Wells College (my Alma Mater)! I wanted to make her a little gift because she has been feeling homesick lately. She is staying in the same dorm that I stayed in and there are large corkboards above the desks. I decided I wanted to use the kit to make some little tacks for her board!

Here’s what I used:

bottle caps (which I bought, but I’m sure you could get some by drinking a 6-pack! )

thumbtacks (look for ones with large, flat heads)

scraps from my kit

buttons, brads, mini flowers, or any other mini embellishments

glossy accents

1. Cut the papers to fit inside your bottle caps and glue down.

2. Add an embellishment onto the paper and then fill the cap with Glossy Accents to completely cover the materials. Be sure to lay them on a very flat surface while they harden. It takes a while since the layer of glossy accents is so thick!

3. Once dry, use a dab of Glossy Accents on the back of the bottle cap and stick the head of the thumb tack into it. Let that dry, and voila!

If you don’t have a corkboard, you could do the same thing but add a piece of magnetic tape to the back instead to make some cute magnets for your fridge!

I made a little card to go with them to send them to my cousin! I think she’s gonna like them!

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial!
