I wanted to really quickly give you a tip regarding the BURLAP in the March kit. there are TWO pieces! I wish I would've known that before I cut into mine! (I was just so excited to use it!) It is sewn together, so you will need to pick out the sewing bit, and you will have TWO 12 x 12 sheets of wonderfulness! Have fun and PLEASE share your layouts in the gallery! Labels: tip

I wanted to talk about glitter today. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love it because of the bling and just awesomeness of the gleam. The hate part comes in with the mess. So, I challenged myself when I made this layout to use glitter on my black letters. 1. I sanded my letters a little bit. 2. I added my wet adhesive. 3. I added my glitter, I waited for the adhesive to dry. 4. I shook off the excess glitter and added wet adhesive over the top covering the glitter. The experiment worked! No more messy lovely glitter everywhere! **If you don't have wet adhesive you can also use spray adhesive.** So if you are like me and have a "stash" of glitter gathering dust. Don't be afraid of it! Use it! :)

banners are HOT right now, you see them on layouts, cards, they seem to be everywhere! While at CHA I noticed in the American Crafts booth where the dear Lizzy line was being displayed some WONDERFUL simple banners. I thought it would be fun to do for Valentine's day, I used part of the January & February kit, some scraps, a few buttons, and my cricut. Here is what I came up with: I believe the whole thing took about 45 minutes to an hour to make. (I broke it up in two sessions. Before and after church....)
1. First I cut my shapes. The larger hearts were cut at 3" (for the backing) and 2"(for the inner part). 2. I then cut my circles, some are cut at 1 1 /2" & some are at 1 1/4". 3. I ran my Kraft colored circles through my crimper. 4. I set up the order in which I wanted my pattern to go. 5. I set my sewing machine to a straight stitch and began to sew. **to make sure there wasn't any bunching I pulled the end straight. ** Also in between each shape I let the needle go up and down 4 times--to give some space. 6. After I had everything together I glued on my buttons and letters. Easy, peasy! Now if you don't have a cricut or slice, or other die cutting machine you can easily do this with your punches or even hand cut your shapes. One more thing I wasn't very technical with how many pieces I cut. I just went with the flow and it turned out. I do have a few pieces left over that I will be using for gift tags and other projects. Thanks for stopping by! Labels: tip

today I want to talk about using up your scraps. These scraps happened to be from past Scrapbook Circle kits. I used my cricut and cut circles in different sizes (this happens to be based on a layout sketch at Sketchy Thursdays.): It's was SUPER quick and fun! So the next time you have scraps, don't throw them away, use them for your cards! Labels: tip

Fussy cutting? What is it? Curious? Simply put it's cutting out a shape or object from a design pattern paper for example. here is my example: I really wanted to accentuate the cupcakes from the paper because this was a layout of my girl's birthday party. The results are fun! FYI I used a different color of perfect pearls for the edges...Here is a look at the final layout: Labels: tip

Last week I talked about the letters included in the January kit, I wanted to continue and share another idea that I tried. Here's a closeup: I lightly sanded the letters for better grip, then distressed them with ink, really well (vintage photo), I let that dry. Then I painted with crackle paint. What's neat about this combination is that the distress ink seeped through the paint giving it more of an aged look. Here is the final result on the layout: Labels: tip

I wanted to talk a little bit about the American Craft letters included in the January kit, they are FABULOUS! I got in my head to try an experiment I came up with this: There is a slight pearl shine to them. I did this by distressing the letters first, then inking them with distress ink (worn lipstick) Then I spritzed the letters with a mixture of perfect pearls and water. It really turned out dreamy! here is a look at the layout completely finished: Thanks for visiting us here at Scrapbook Circle!

The January kit is SO versatile I LOVE it! This mailbox I made for my family for the month of February so we can leave each other notes: it came together quickly. I just added a little stickles to the letters to give them a pink hue. Everything you see was included (minus the mailbox) in the kit. I would love to see any creations people have made with this kit in the gallery. Thanks for stopping by Scrapbook Circle today! Labels: tip

Inspired by my creative buddy and fellow design team member Melanie I made this last minute gift for a friend: It went together VERY quickly. I used my lovely stickles, pictures don't do it justice how it shines. The frame I bought at Walmart, and the crackle paint at Michaels with my coupon. I sprayed it with some glimmer mist and tied some tulle and miniature decorations to finish it off. Easy!

I know I've said this probably every week BUT, I LOVE this December kit! I loved it so much I didn't have a scrap of paper left to do this project, I had to use something from my stash. I did however have some chipboard and flare buttons to add: Here are some closeups: These are for two of my kids' teachers. You can find these clear paint cans at Michaels *remember to use your coupon* they run around $2.99. You can fill it with anything you like, I happened to LOVE bob's candy. :) Labels: tip

Have I told you how much I LOVE this December kit?!! I used it to complete my December Daily. What I want to share today is the FANTASTIC Pink Paislee letters included. I took the asterisk (who uses those?--they're always my leftovers....) And I made a tree, look: I'm challenging you to think outside the box and use up your letters! Labels: tip

using cardboard in your albums and pages have become very popular. I thought I would give it a try with my December Daily album. For my album I used the FANTASTIC December kit. It's so easy to work with and it's Jam Packed with FUN paper and embellishments! For my cardboard I measured the piece I needed, mine happens to be 8 x 8 in size. Once it was measured I started to peel off the cardboard. I then painted the edges. I left some on the page so I could attach either a picture or journaling later. Underneath my pattern paper I also left some paper so that it would have something to "hold on to". I love the effect and it was simple! Enjoy! Labels: tip

Arrows seems to be in the "thing" right now in scrapbook layouts. Here are a couple of different ways to use arrows.
1. Point out the details. For this layout I wanted to point out the "thing" that my boys were looking at 2. Go big and use for journaling.
I would love to see what you come up with!

Woohoo! it's Monday! Okay, now that Halloween is out of the way we are thinking of Christmas right? How about Christmas cards? Here are some ideas to help REDUCE your stress and make it FUN!
**design your card-make all the cards the same** *once that's designed make it an assembly line! *involve your family in the creative process I also saw THIS today--making cards 4 cards in 20 minutes sounds GREAT to me! Good luck and feel free to share your creations in the gallery! :) Labels: tip

today let's talk about mists. I have seen SO MANY cute layouts that use a spritz of mist on it. In fact I have one here that I made using the October kit: It's a really fun accent to add to your layout or card. What's fun is that you don't need that much and it's very versatile. I really like the glitter/glimmer look. (you can't really tell from the photo but there is a sheen) The mists are quick drying and there are several colors to choose from. Here are 3 companies that sell mist items:
Maya Road--I don't own this but have had the chance to use it, FANTASTIC coverage. And it doesn't spit on you.
Shimmerz--I've only seen layouts done with this beautiful product, so I couldn't tell you the ease of use. It does seem that it has great coverage.

I LOVE to machine sew on my cards and scrapbook pages! Here are some tips to help you: *Always practice with a scrap piece of paper first,
there is no second chances with paper
Loosen your sewing tension when using paper as it doesn't need to be as tight as if you were sewing on fabric
It's fun to use colored thread so buy some funky ones
Go slow.
Take your time when doing delicate designs so you don't make a mistake
Use fiber when hand stitching
Have fun!!! Labels: tip

today I wanted to show you a neat little trick! I used my magic mesh as a mask to create this background for my layout: What you will need: white cardstock magic mesh distress ink ink applicator
1. To create this look you need to place magic mesh on top of your cardstock, make sure that it is in place before continuing. (mine was sticky so it stayed down really well.) 2. Next you will take your applicator and ink it up well and rub it on top of your mesh. Once you have covered the area desired. Remove it and line up the mesh with the already inked area. 3. Continue until you have covered your whole page. That's it! Easy Peasy! Here is the finished page: Supplies used from the October kit! Hope to see some fun examples in the gallery of masking techniques! Labels: tip

today I wanted to talk about stamps. Particularly Hero Arts stamps, I LOVE them! Okay, so I have a new set of stamps I LOVE--BUT I'm drawing a blank. What to do? I go to their website HERO ARTS, they have a search engine you plug in your stamp number. Up pops your stamps set most of the time they have samples. It's great for me because it's a spring board of inspiration! So the next time you can't figure out what to do with your stamps try the manufacturer website, they have samples! Labels: tip

The September kit contains a FABULOUS flower, I immediately thought hair clip! Quick and easy! All you need: flower hot glue gun
1. heat up your gun. 2. apply glue to the back of flower 3. *QUICKLY* open hair clip and place in glue. (opening assures you that you won't glue it shut)
Here's the finished product: It's that easy! Labels: tip

Using numbers for letters: Don't you just hate it when you run out of letters and want them for a title? All I needed was an L, what to do? I looked at anything else that might be substitute, the 7 it was! So next time you find yourself in a quandary, look at what else you have on your letter sticker sheet and you just might find your solution!

do you ever make your layout without adhering your pictures? I do! I layout my whole page adhering the main papers then I maneuver my pictures around. Sometimes after taking the pictures off my layout I can't remember where they were exactly. To help remember I break out my digital camera and take a picture. So, when I go back to completing my layout I can see where everything was! So the next time you find yourself forgetting take a picture! Labels: tip

ever have trouble journaling? I know I do! Take out the stress and let someone else in your family help you such as your children or spouse. Get them involved, not only will the layout be complete but it will have been a group effort and more meaningful. * when going on a trip I often take a notebook with me and at the end of the day I ask everyone what they remember most about what we did that day. Later on when I scrapping I can transfer the information.
* take the journaling off your blog, the journaling is done use it! Labels: tip

today I want to talk about image storage. Do you ever just play with your stamps or punches? I don't like to throw some of these masterpieces away so I store them in this:
it used to have Christmas yogurt covered pretzels, I recycled it! What's fun about storing stamped images is that my kiddos can also go through these and use them on their crafting projects! Labels: tip

a real quick tip for today, how to fold a paper flower: you will need: a paper flower (mine happens to be Bazzill), and glue dots. 1. fold your flower in half. 2. fold your flower in half again, and your done! here is an example of what I did with my folded flower: Enjoy! Labels: tip

A couple of weeks ago I made cards with the FABULOUS July kit. They are smaller than a usual A2 cards size, what to do? I tried everything and NOTHING seemed to match up or be even. I then had a thought, what about using an A2 sized card (measures 4 3/8" x 5 3/4"), the height of my card fit, but the width didn't..... so this is what I did: 1. I CAREFULLY opened up my envelope (it's OK if it tears a bit, you will either be trimming that off or it will be covered up) 2. I placed my card in the center of my envelope and traced (to make a template). For my flaps I eyeballed it by looking at my envelope and free handing it. I then cut it out. 3. This is what your template should look like: 4. next I took my template and placed it in the center of another envelope traced it and cut it out. NOW you have a working envelope! 5. To seal your envelope and hide ragged edges....on the outer flap add your adhesive, ONLY to the edge of the lower flap. 6. Fold your lower flap up and adhere your side flaps it should look like this: 7. And here is my finished envelope from the front. I stamped and embossed a little flower to add to my set of cards. So the next time you need an envelope, this might just be your answer! Enjoy! Labels: tip

Here is my first ever tip video! I have to thank DD as my camera gal , she did a great job! On the video I failed to mention how long I had cut my ribbon approximately 8", after I finished it ended up being 4 3/4". This will change depending on how big your folds are AND how much ribbon you cut. Here is the finished product:

Today I'm gonna share how I made my grass for this fun little project. First off I glued floral foam in the bottom of my tin. Because my paper was double sided I folded my scrap in half, then I cut my pieces of paper to about 2 inches long and variated the width, cutting the tops to a slanted edge to resemble blades of grass. then I just pushed them into the foam every which way to resemble grass. Simple, fun! Labels: tip

tearing paper....I know pretty simple...BUT you can get different looks the way you tear your paper. for instance tearing lay your paper flat then pull the paper towards you, it will show the white core: If you didn't want to see the white core you could just use the other side of the tear: *other fun tips of tearing: -ink/distress the white core -roll the torn edges up towards you so they are rounded -crumple the torn paper Labels: tip

today I want to talk about finding joy in the tools you have. Just recently I rediscovered some tools I owned. (Or in other words, I bought them or they were given to me and I put them away without ever really looking at them, sound familiar?)
This week I would like to talk about water color pencils. I'm not the best stamper in the world so we aren't going to look at my attempts. But did you know that you can color your stamped images with your water color pencils? Then, you can either paint them with a wet paint brush or with a water color blending pen? Here is a great video by HERO ARTS: **Bonus tip: I have stamped and painted on cardstock and it works too, but if you would like to buy water color paper you can**Labels: tip

I am on a sun kick lately, almost every bright orange or yellow paper eventually becomes a sun! Both of these are different techniques. For this one I used a large button as the center of my sun with a little fiber, and I cut strips and rolled them. For this second tag I cut the center with two different sized punches and then distressed them, then with the left over strips I made the rays. Totally easy and TOTALLY fun!
