One Item Wonder: Basic Grey Byzantine Paper

I absolutely love the Grand Bazaar line by Basic Grey, which is one of the featured collections in the Island Paradise kit. In particular, I love the geometric designs of the Byzantine patterned paper. The angles and colors could be a bit intimidating to someone who doesn’t usually use such a vibrant paper on their layouts, so I asked creative team member Jenni to share with us her technique for using this fantastic patterned paper:

Jenni has two great ideas for the pattern-wary scrapper. First, use the pattern in small doses. Jenni used the Byzantine paper just on the edges of her layout, allowing the rest of the layout to be built on a more monotone yellow pattern. Second, Jenni used vellum to mute the brightness of the Byzantine paper. You can still see the pattern and color, but it’s less intense.

Great ideas, Jenni! We can’t wait to see what you do with this patterned paper. Be sure to upload your layouts to our Facebook page once you’ve had a chance to play with your kit. Have a great day!
