Anyone up for Yellow?
Hello friends. Ursula here to share another project with you today.
It amazes me how many possibilities there are for creating layouts from Scrapbook Circle kits. I still can’t get over how many different looks you can get from one kit.
This week, I took a glance at the somewhat decimated remains of my August kits and decided I wanted to create one more project. One color jumped out at me from the True Stories leftovers…..YELLOW!
It’s a happy color and I allowed that palette to guide and inspire me toward the subject I was going to scrap. There’s a joyous little fellow who is new in my life named Jack. He’s the son of a very dear friend and he is the perfect focus for a layout in yellow if you ask me.
Since I’d used up a lot of the full sheets of paper, I decided to build my own background which I layered over a sheet of cardstock. If you haven’t done this, I highly recommend trying it as it’s a great way to use up partial sheets and your results will be unique to you.
I gathered up every single yellow piece I had leftover from the kits and just started laying things down to see how I liked them. The photo below gives you an idea of how that looked. You’ll see that I did have one full sheet left, but since I didn’t want to use it all up, I went ahead with my building process.
My feeling is that there is no better way to be certain such a background will be secure than to stitch it down so that is just what I did. All the way around the outside, through the middle and down the road to grandmother’s house. I was slightly tempted to just stop there, what with all that nice textured stitching!
You may recall that there was a wonderful grey tag in the kits. I used that tag up promptly, but that’s no reason to be out of tags. I simply took some of the remaining card-stock and created another tag using the same pattern, customizing it by creating a custom topper from one of the patterned papers and adding a hole reinforcement as well. It’s provided a nice space for adding some private journaling inside the sweet yellow striped bag.
I did include a bit of grey to break up all of that yellow.
And when the golden chevron pennant wasn’t enough, I simply cut another from patterned paper from the kit so I could layer those as well.
What can you make from what’s left of your kit?

Love how you used so much yellow on this page! So beautiful and cheery.
