August Guest Designer – Audrey Yeager
Let’s get to know the August Guest Designer Audrey Yeager!
Hello! My name is Audrey Yeager and I am THRILLED to be at Scrapbook Circle as a guest designer this month! I have loved Scrapbook Circle for YEARS and was on the DT back in 2010-2011. I always told Lisa that I thought she was reading my mind when she designed the kits!
I started scrapbooking in 2004 but became much more serious about it in 2007 when I moved with my soon-to-be husband from NY to TX. And once our first child was born in 2009, it became a full-time hobby! I love to use stencils and paints, mists, and stitching on my pages. I usually use 1-4 smaller photos and try to design my pages using a visual triangle. I get design ideas from things like quilts, but I also try and let the imagery of my photos help with page design, too. For example, in my “Skippin’ Stones” layout below, I was visualizing the wall of layered grey shale rocks behind where my son was sitting and used strips of distressed grey papers to mimic that pattern. I also envisioned the concentric circles that you seen in a “splash” in the water, and hand stitched circles with white thread.
I have been on several design teams for kit clubs, online stores and manufacturers. I have guest designed for American Crafts and Little Yellow Bicycle, and designed for SEI. I currently design for Glitz Designs (with Lisa!) and GCD Studios (with Tessa!).
What did you like best about the August kit? My favorite thing about the August kit is definitely the papers. I am a big American Crafts fan, and I just LOVE using navy in summer pages mixed with teals and bright yellows. I also really loved the mistable fabric Thickers (which look so cool when you fray the edges).
Where do you do your crafting? Right now, we are in the middle of moving back to central NY from Houston. So all my scrapping is being done out of a rolling tote that I put whatever I could fit in! I had a fantastic space at my old home, and as we start house searching, you better believe I am thinking about a space for ME! We are staying with my parents until we can find a house.
Who/What is your favorite person/thing to document in your layouts? My kids are by far my favorite people to scrap about. I love telling their funny stories and documenting their milestones and life experiences. Most of the time I write my journaling as if I am talking to them.
What do you like to do best when you aren’t scrapbooking? When I’m not scrapping I…..well…..I’m always scrapping. But if I’m not, I am playing with the kiddos, doing the everyday stay-at-home-mom routine, and really just enjoying my family. Hubby and I are joining a recreational volleyball league this fall, and I am so looking forward to that!
Isn’t Audrey’s work with the August kit amazing?! Look for more from Audrey all month as we share her work here.
