Triangles are the New Hexagons

Well, maybe that is a bit of an overstatement. Hexagons are still super cool and trendy. But, I’ve been seeing lots of triangles lately too. Nice thing about triangles? A lot easier to make if you don’t have a die cut machine! Just cut some squares of patterned paper and cut them in half. If you use double sided paper, you get 2 different colors of triangles from one cutting effort! Bonus!

Add them in a line or circle or some other shape, add some stitching and you have a cool addition to your project. I am willing to bet that all the trendy scrapbooking shapes like hexagons and triangles have all been influences from the quilting world. Check out this gorgeous quilt with triangles:

So if you are looking forward to the next cool shape to be found in scrapbooking, try playing with triangles or better yet search quilts on Pinterest and see where that takes you!
